I really should dive into this band's discography sometime, anyone have a good entry point?

That really depends on who you ask, The Cure really runs the gamut of emotions over their career. I would start chronologically. And where the fuck is that 'dark half' of 4:13 Dream that I was promised? It's been a fucking decade... I wish this band didn't start sucking after 2004 but they sure had a good run.

They played a new song when I saw them last year. Hopefully they do a surprise drop next year but we can only hope huh?

And maybe tomorrow my stale bread will be fresh again, fingers crossed

I like to think they've done more than just put on weight and tour a few festivals in the last decade but I conceit I'm setting myself up for failure.

I'm kind of bitter about it myself but hey, if any band deserves to coast on their laurels for over a decade it's these guys. They did their time very well imo

@BlackMalachite Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me was my personal entry point into their music, but Disintegration was the album that really got me into them. I’d say either of those two albums are good places to start.

Recommends the double album first. Lol

The head on the door is a pretty easy listen. A few classic songs and a broad sound and decent production for them might good entry point.

Disintegration is barely top 5. Songs like Pictures Of You and Fascination Street do not remotely fit in with the rest of the songs, a problem albums like Pornography don't share. Still a great album.

I love Disintegration but I love Wish even more. It's the perfect combination of melancholy and upbeat Cure.

I think Wish is the perfect starting point, it has a mixture of both pop Cure and melancholy Cure.

I started with Pornography, but that may not be the best entry point for everyone. Probably Head on the Door or Disintegration would be good starters depending on how long you want to spend on a first listen.

definitely head on the door. their most pop/accessible, and as far as studio albums it's probably the closest approximation you're gonna get to the full picture of what they're about

But Head On The Door doesn't even begin to cover the gamut of what they've done in their career. Going chronologically is the best way. Or start with a Greatest Hits CD like I did... I got the very misleading pop one too, the one that cuts all the goth hits. Staring At The Sea seems more well-rounded.

They produced two masterpieces, "Disintegration" and "Pornography". But "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me" and "Head on the Door" are also very good. However, I would first recommend "Staring at the Sea" (an amazing early compilation) to new fans.
