yeah this band is finished
|
| |
Seems like the only thing appropriate to do. Everyone around Chester needs to heal and I think LP is without a doubt done :/
|
| |
I can't imagine the pain that Chester's family and his bandmates are all going through. This is terrible, but I'm glad the tour was cancelled.
|
| |
They'll be (at least commercially) successful under a different name soon though.
|
| |
Well.. RIP LP.
|
| |
Expected, though actually, only the North American tour has been cancelled. No announcement has been made on the 3 Japan shows yet
|
| |
Mike can focus on FM again, Hahn should release some solo glitchy material and the other guys idk join other bands perhaps, hopefully they don't all just hang up the boots with music though
|
| |
Maybe they can all make stuff as Fort Minor
|
| |
Brad and Rob an absurd amount of improvements as musicians on The Hunting Party. They'd make a brilliant team together if they set their minds to it.
|
| |
Maybe they can all make stuff as Fort Minor
Maybe joe hahn will be a full member of fort minot, actually I don't have a problem if mike, joe, rob, brad and phoenix continue to make music together, but the best for them is that they change the name of band and choose a different concept for their next endeavors, I am sure people will not tolerate that LP continue with another vocalist that is not chester
|
| |
Wouldn't bother me if they continued as LP and just never replaced Chester but that wouldn't really work when it comes time to tour
|
| |
Sorry for the ignorance but has ever Mike sing a song in a melodical way like Chester? or he only makes rapping?
|
| |
Mike sings on a bunch of their post-Meteora albums, most of the time it's either in the background or in harmony with Chester tho
|
| |
Thanks.
|
| |
He sings on a few songs. He also sang on their demo EP thing before Chester joined.
|
| |
Yeah this makes sense.
|
| |
I would have normally said that under such circumstances the band is going to regroup and try incorporating more synth sounds into their music and ultimately become more influential than the band they sprung out of and help forefront an entire new genre with their unique ethereal half-electronic approach and become extremely successful and long-running.
...but that would be New Order and Linkin Park already blown their synth incorporation.
|
| |
Mike sings on like 80% of Living Things I'm pretty sure, with a few songs sprinkled around elsewhere.
|
| |
It would be mindblowing if linkin park suffers from the new order syndrome.
|
| |
im sure fort minor is on the front of all their minds right now
|
| |
No surprises here. Farewell one of the best bands I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.
|
| |
I could see them continuing with just Mike as the vocalist, but not sure how I would feel about them adding a new one as a replacement
|
| |
They shouldn't do a replacement.
|
| |
Such a tough situation, like wtf do you do? if i where them for at least a month i wouldnt want to think about music at all, imagine losing a friend you spent around 18 years with, and just have him go in the snap of a finger, wouldnt wish something like this on anyone, tragic is not the word
|
| |
not sure if they'd do replacement or not, maybe grab a new singer but a different name?
|
| |
I doubt they've made a full decision, but the fact they posted a Linkin Park symbol with one side of a hexagram missing, meaning they're missing a member, makes me kinda think the band is still a thing but just missing him now. But again, I doubt they've made a decision in two days. Other people can sing like him, it's just a matter of if the band would want them to.
Definitely don't blame them for canceling the tour though.

Linkin Park history lesson incoming...
In the beginning, Mike mostly did back-up vocals and harmonies on songs like "The Catalyst", "Rebellion" and "Bruning in the Skies" besides rapping. He also sung a bunch of the LP Underground demos which would later feature Chester on the album versions.
He did however provide main vocals for the following songs:
- In Between (Minutes to Midnight)
- No Roads Left (Minutes to Midnight, bonus track)
- Roads Untraveled (Living Things)
- Skin to Bone (Living Things)
- Sorry for Now (One More Light)
- Invisible (One More Light)
He also sung the chorus on the latest Fort Minor song "Welcome".
HOWEVER, Mike did NOT sing before Chester joined. That was actually the lesser known founding member Mark Wakefield who started Linkin Park, then known as Xero in 1993 and left in 1998 when they changed their name to Hybrid Theory and recruited Chester Bennington from Grey Daze. They changed their name again to Linkin Park due to legal issues prior to releasing Hybrid Theory, which was originally intended to be self-titled.
Class dismissed!
|
| |
it's about time they disband
|
| |
I'll be surprised if they did continue as a band.
|
| |
If they continue they'll probably pull a Hawthorne heights and continue without a replacement
|
| |
Mike did I'm fact sing on one of demos, called So Far Away which is very different from everything else LP has ever done
|
| |
I feel like they'll break up but will most likely reform under a new name. Such a tragedy.
|
| |
was anyone gonna attend the shows anyway?
|
| |
I mean, I assume they will just break up.
Having said that, I would love to see them pull a new order and continue. They could continue to play live and not play Chester songs, hell I feel like they could even continue in a pop/hip hop direction with Mike up front.
|
| |
Yeah same. The Fort Minor album is one of my favorites, aims love to hear that stuff with a full band arrangement
|
| |
Ultimately it's their decision to make. But I personally don't think it would feel right for them to continue as LP nor do I think an announcement will be forthcoming any time soon.
|
| |

Well, their shows despite of the fiasco of OML were always full in almost every corner of the world, including your home country budy.

Face it in your country they are as popular as nightwish or stratovarius and in the whole world they were huge, specially in UK, Germany, Brazil, Poland, Japan and Russia
Very few bands have 62 million fans on facebook, very few bands have that vast amount of views and even talking to myself in less than 3 days has 20 million views, do the math arty boy, finns are usually good in math and don't dissapoint your home country
|
| |
I agree with DeusAutomata9012. There's no point in carrying on after this tragedy. Not only does Linkin Park have nothing else to prove, but out of respect for Chester, they need to hang it up. They've given fans all they could for near-20 years and need to preserve their legacy. Not to mention Mike Shinoda has his side project Fort Minor he can carry on with the rest of Linkin Park's lineup.
|
| |
@verm obviously i wasn't serious, just referencing to the fact that even lp fans hated the last album. they are a shit ton more popular here than nightwish or stratovarius anyway, although they don't get the same general respect as nightwish
|
| |
@verm obviously i wasn't serious, just referencing to the fact that even lp fans hated the last album.
Well, despite of the existance of the last album, in the shows of the previous tour they didn't remove completely their old school material, they were still playing in the end, numb, papercut, breakin the habit, crawling, one step closer and somewhere I belong, even in a bunch of shows they played a place for my head and from the inside. Sure tracks like heavy or nobody can save me were atrocious but still those performances were enjoyable due to the material of their 6 previous records. And when I mentioned strato and nightwish is because I wanted to mention how popular is power metal in your home country. Lolololololol
|
| |
"And when I mentioned strato and nightwish is because I wanted to mention how popular is power metal in your home country"
it's just obnoxious
|
| |

Well Alice In Chains did exactly this, but there was a long time to heal before they did it.
|
| |
The Fort Minor ideas are nothing but that right now, ideas. They released one record in 2005 and there's never been a a hint or an idea that Fort Minor will ever be anything else other than that, a project from 2005. Sometimes a project is just a place in time where you were as an artist, I don't see Fort Minor ever happening again, and if it does it'll be a forced endeavor.
|
| |
We might as well just wait and see. I think they should retire. They don't have anything else to prove.
|
| |
almost 100% sure they will release one final lp underground later this year, or maybe an official b-sides/rarities/live compilation for 2018. most probably also a greatest hits album.
but yeah they should just release whatever is left in mike's pc and then close the curtain for good.
