impressions so far: 1 and 2 are insanely good, 3 is solid and eastre would have been an incredible track if it was a lot shorter or if it actually developed substantially
but ive been hearing people say 4 is the best by far so we'll see

Definitely. I'd say buy the MP3s to support Autechre because they deserve it, and then grab the WAVS through less-than-legal means. A $22 jump in price from mp3s to wavs is pretty fucked. Actually, just did a comparison at the store and CCAI pt. 2 cost 14% for WAV whereas this costs 67% more.

Just looked at another full album (not an ep) and the price jack was 33%, seems you gotta pay a heavier FLAC tax depending on the amount of music you purchase.

It still feels too much. Exai 2 CD + 24bit WAV bundle is at USD 16.00, and it is basically half the running time of Elseq, and you get a physical release with artwork. Digital only is even cheaper. It is like they are trying to squeeze as much possible from their loyal fans.

Richard was nice enough to talk Warp and Bleep into including a free WAV download for any physical purchases made. But since there's no current plans for physical releases here it seems the listener may be assed-out.

Wanting at least CD quality is not being an audiophile. People are getting so used to mp3s that they forget that CD is still the standard. Still, $55 for someone who wants extra quality is still too much. That is just me. If you have the money and you are willing to pay for it, more power to you.

i just listened through one full time and i know i like it, but i honestly dont know how to describe it. freulaeux sounds like nothing theyve ever done imo.

i feel like this is surprisingly easy to digest, easier than exai. after about 2 listens i already have a pretty good feel for it because the tracks are so massive that it's a lot easier to get a feel for them early on

I agree with kyle that it is surprisingly easy to digest though

you cannot determine within a few seconds if you're going to enjoy a 4-5 hour long album. digesting an album that long is the equivalent of listening to roughly 5-10 albums, depending on album duration which is roughly 30 mins to an hour.

it's also completely possible that it just clicks with you fairly early on. not "a few seconds" early on but "a few tracks" certainly
