| |
it's so good
| |
yo.
| |
downloading now fam
| |
this tracklist is quite something
| |
idk what this even is, is it like 1 big album or 5 small ones or just a bunch of fuckin songs they felt like arbitrarily throwing together into a release
| |
either way i listened to 1 so far and its great
| |
fuck
| |
ey the whole crew is here
| |
bleep bloop fart
| |
Why does it cost so much fer a digital copy god damn
| |
foldfree casual is pre wow
| |
cuz it's 5 EPs frig
| |
holy shiit
| |
omg this playlist I'm listening to needs to end so I can listen to this
| |
aww yissss
| |
just diving in, already dope
| |
So yeah all music including that new First Fragment are gonna have to wait.
Also how is this gonna be added to the DB, is the whole thing gonna be listed as a comp and the 5 EPs are separate? I'm just not sure cause it's all new material, no?
| |
Whoa
| |
i think it should be under the album title elseq 1-5, any other way wouldnt work for reviewing purposes.
| |
holy shit i needed this love me some autechre
| |
how about having each EP as an individual entry and including the whole thing as a compilation?
| |
^ Precisely, you can still review compilations.
| |
i dont think there's any need to have two different versions, plus compilations are usually retrospective or only small contributions.
its basically just an album chopped up into 5 pieces. this is too prolific to work as a single unit.
| |
Question is: who is going to review this?
| |
jacq for sure
| |
side note, this is straight fire. like who the hell writes a track like pendulu hv moda.
| |
Basically, I need to stop listening to anything else. This upsets me.
| |
"Why does it cost so much fer a digital copy god damn"
I was epecting $20 or something. Holy damn.
| |
Ok. I guess I will not be buying this :-(
| |
it's worth it... or just wait like most ppl
| |
its totally worth it.
| |
I think it is doubtful they will be releasing a physical release...or it will be an ultra limited edition.
| |
yeah thats what i think too.
| |
oh yessss
| |
$33 is worth it
| |
fuck that shit about 10 minutes into elyc6 sounds like nothing ive ever heard before
| |
impressions so far: 1 and 2 are insanely good, 3 is solid and eastre would have been an incredible track if it was a lot shorter or if it actually developed substantially
but ive been hearing people say 4 is the best by far so we'll see
| |
theres no way mesh cinereal could have lived up to the rendition of it they did of it at the end of the krakow set
| |
best news ever, been on a serious autechre binge recently
| |
acdwn2 slaps
| |
came expecting the album to have a title comprised of letters and numbers, was not disappointed
| |
first three elseq's r g0o0d
| |
so far im feeling 4>2=1>5>3
| |
Shit.
| |
autechre for summer? nah
| |
yes
| |
'autechre for summer? nah'
reassess your thinking bro, it's their new thing. You seen the new cover (not the squares&circles jawn)?:

Gud lawd
| |
This stuff sounds much more organic than Exai, the jamming vibe gives the tracks a lot more space to breathe and evolve. Loving it
| |
nice cover
| |
c16 is a straight banger
| |
anyone else think it's a bit bullshit warp charges so much for flacs and wavs
| |
4 hours rip
| |
"anyone else think it's a bit bullshit warp charges so much for flacs and wavs"
yeah it's not like higher quality is enough extra work to justify a price hike, but hey, supply and demand i guess. i mean half the listeners are just gonna pirate it anyways.
| |
plus i like to think that the eliminated overhead from production and distribution means a much greater portion goes to the artist, which i'm more than glad to send my income to.
| |
[2]
| |
god 4 just has nonstop incredible tracks
| |
im takin it ep by ep and ive only digested 1 so far, gonna dive into 2 tonight.
and 1 is already fire
| |
Looking forward to hearing these... when it finally ends downloading
| |
'anyone else think it's a bit bullshit warp charges so much for flacs and wavs'
Definitely. I'd say buy the MP3s to support Autechre because they deserve it, and then grab the WAVS through less-than-legal means. A $22 jump in price from mp3s to wavs is pretty fucked. Actually, just did a comparison at the store and CCAI pt. 2 cost 14% for WAV whereas this costs 67% more.
That's pretty fucked tbh. But if you want to support dudes and are a serious audiophile then I guess that's on you. It is A LOT of music after all. In the grand scheme of things $33 bucks for 4 hours of new music or even $55 doesn't seem that outlandish I guess.
| |
this is AOTY contender stuff
| |
4 and 2 were my favourites but they're all great
| |
Just looked at another full album (not an ep) and the price jack was 33%, seems you gotta pay a heavier FLAC tax depending on the amount of music you purchase.
| |
"plus i like to think that the eliminated overhead from production and distribution means a much greater portion goes to the artist, which i'm more than glad to send my income to."
It still feels too much. Exai 2 CD + 24bit WAV bundle is at USD 16.00, and it is basically half the running time of Elseq, and you get a physical release with artwork. Digital only is even cheaper. It is like they are trying to squeeze as much possible from their loyal fans.
| |
Richard was nice enough to talk Warp and Bleep into including a free WAV download for any physical purchases made. But since there's no current plans for physical releases here it seems the listener may be assed-out.
sean pls?

Wanting at least CD quality is not being an audiophile. People are getting so used to mp3s that they forget that CD is still the standard. Still, $55 for someone who wants extra quality is still too much. That is just me. If you have the money and you are willing to pay for it, more power to you.
EDIT: I am basically agreeing with you, just expanded on some points.
| |
$11 per EP doesn't sound so much considering AE
| |
æ fans are internet savvy enough to find flac or wavs if they don't feel like shelling out the big bucks. If you really like it though you should probably pay $55. It's not a bad reflection on Autechre, but it's a bad look for the people over at bleep/warp imo. Unless I'm missing something here.
| |
honestly it's our own fault, they know fans will pay for it regardless (i sure did).
| |
I got hella money to burn so I did it on impulse cuz new AE got me like woah
| |
I've listened to a lot of their other music through "less than legal" means, and if there's any artist I'd want to support it's these guys so I'm happy to throw my money at them
| |
i just listened through one full time and i know i like it, but i honestly dont know how to describe it. freulaeux sounds like nothing theyve ever done imo.
| |
i feel like this is surprisingly easy to digest, easier than exai. after about 2 listens i already have a pretty good feel for it because the tracks are so massive that it's a lot easier to get a feel for them early on
| |
god damn
| |
I don't even like Autechre but that song called 13x0 step is possibly the peak of music as we know it.
| |
jfc pls no
| |
Gimme a break, sach. People have all the rights in the world to fangirl over this. If not over this then over what? Radiohead? Death Grips? new crappy Bach interpretations? Kendrick Lomar? They're alright but getting tiresome. It's time for AE to breath some fresh air into our lives, and we should celebrate that like there is no tomorrow.
| |
I fucking love c16 deep tread
| |
i'm not going to give you a break when your reasoning is that deluded.
| |
love how there's art for each track
| |
dense af
| |
Goddamnit this is gonna take up so much time. Well... half a day of work will make up for it
| |
I'm feeling top 3 autechre tbh. after 3 full listens it's up there with draft 7.30 and quaristice for me
| |
idk how you guys even started processing this album, there's way too much material for me to judge it yet
| |
autechre takes a few listens for me to digest. i havent even heard all of this yet
| |
^well said
| |
I agree with kyle that it is surprisingly easy to digest though
| |
you cannot determine within a few seconds if you're going to enjoy a 4-5 hour long album. digesting an album that long is the equivalent of listening to roughly 5-10 albums, depending on album duration which is roughly 30 mins to an hour.
| |
it's also completely possible that it just clicks with you fairly early on. not "a few seconds" early on but "a few tracks" certainly
| |
lol these songs are meant to be heard in their entirety though. like a lot of autechre, if you just parse through the song to see if you'll like it you'll probably miss out on the effect it would otherwise have and prematurely determine it's homogeneous. i found this to be true with many autechre albums, the field, tim hecker, etc.
| |
yeah when I'm listening to a new album, if I'm really digging the first 2 or 3 tracks, it's very likely that what's to come is of of the same caliber.
| |

who the hell doesn't listen to full songs at least?
| |
Why is this a discussion? oh wait, Gyro started it. You can continue.
| |
wie kann man sich nur so hart gönnen
| |
cuz ur on a music discussion site, m8
| |
I've lost sense of time since this was released. I thought I had listened 3 times but last.fm informed me it's actually 4
