Evans Blue release new track

2016-01-09 by RoderickINM | 17 Comments
Canadian alternative rock/metal band Evans Blue have streamed a new song entitled "iGod", accompained with a lyric video. This song will be part of their forthcoming 5th studio album entitled "Letters from the Dead", which will be released on spring 2016 through Sound+Sights records.

About the song, vocalist Dan Chandler states: “iGod depicts our failure to recognize or consider a perspective other than our own … To suggest or assume our ideas take priority over someone else’s, only promotes conflict between two people who are very much the same otherwise.”

Evans Blue's last album, Graveyard of Empires was released on April 17, 2012 and reached at 121 on the Billboard 200 chart. Little after the release, the band went on hiatus until August 14th, 2015 on which they returned to the studio.

I see they had a "Disturbed"-style hiatus. You know, one of absolutely no creative evolution or rejuvenation. Band has sucked since Matisyn was kicked out.

Chugging an open string is not something just associated with "djent". Nu-metal bands did it as early as the late nineties, and Evans Blue has always been somewhere in the realm of nu-metal. There's nothing polyrhythmic or needlessly technical about this. So please, throw more useless buzzwords around. Really fosters meaningful conversation.

Anyways, song is okay. Band would have to do some pretty radical stuff to be musically relevant again though. Definitely nothing new, not that anyone really expected it to be.

I'm pretty sure I've heard this exact riff in at least 10 other nu metal songs from different bands. Genre seriously needs to die.

This would have sounded outdated on release in '98. I can't even describe what this is in 20-goddamn-16.

Has it gotten better? I wasn't able to really get into Parabelle even though I loved the Matisyn-era Evans Blue.

Parabelle's newer stuff has great production although I wish they would just re-record A Summit Borderline/A Drop Oceanic. Kevin Matisyn is one of my favorite singers and his Evans Blue work is still classic to me.

This is fairly mediocre nu metal but it's been that way since they kicked Kevin out of the band. Pretty sure the rest of the band wanted to in this direction to be more popular, but damn it sucked everything unique about the band out.

Band went downhill since Kevin left and this is only further proof. Parabelle is nice.
