Ash: why Hatherley left... 2007-06-07 by samthebassman | 2 Comments | When guitarist Charlotte Hatherley left Northern Irish rockers Ash in 2006 to pursue a solo career, it was widely thought to have been an amicable departure. However in a new interview, the three piece reveal they were forced to ask her to leave the band after her commitment dwindled.
"It was our decision for her to go. She wanted the best of both worlds - to be a solo artist and to be in a band," reveals frontman Tim Wheeler.
"I could tell her heart wasn't in it and it made things awkward between us."
Hatherley released her second full-length album "The Deep Blue" earlier this year to modest success, while Ash's fifth full-length studio album, 'Twilight Of The Innocents', is released in the UK in July.
