oh yay this band
| |
I was going to post this earlier but I'm lazy. I'm going to listen to it again when I get home.
| |
Tourniquet is beautiful
| |
There are artefacts in between the songs that segue into each other, like Dystopia into Hexes there's a little 'pop' effect. I made a version of the album that links properly because of my OCD haha.
Album is mint. AOTY contender for me.
| |
album is great
next will be incredible
| |
probably won't be checking this but the album art is sort of cool
| |
some really good moments on here. Hexes, Tourniquet and Cages are probably my top 3 on this.
| |
Album art is so sissy what the hell. This ain't a synthpop album
| |
Wow people actually like this i'm intrigued.
| |
it's probably just the early hype. I'm pretty sure this is going to have the lowest average compared to the rest of the LPs
| |

| |
I'm too hyped to hear this! I wish i could ditch my girlfriend to listen lol.
| |
^ smh
just go to the bathroom and stream a little bit of the album
| |
Give her a good porking whilst it plays in the background
| |
relinquished theres no way youd check any of this huh
| |
What's with the Coldplay/birds of Tokyo cover
| |
no interest in it EE
| |
Album art is so sissy what the hell. This ain't a synthpop album
they used it at an apple keynote for a reason
| |
I'm not surprised. The art looks like it'd fit right in
| |
I may end up liking this more than their previous 2 LPs. It'd be great if they could keep a singer for more than one album before he departs.

First Deafheaven now Tesseract? lol
| |
Haha, I thought the exact same thing
| |
am i crazy or did you get your ratings wiped, bloc?
| |
Haha good eye! I asked the mods to wipe em a couple of weeks ago
| |
Any reason in particular?
I remember you having over 3000. That's a lot man >_>
| |
"Wow people actually like this i'm intrigued. "
yea what a surprise people actually like music go figure
| |
Listening to One and go to sputnik to talk about how great it is and see TesseracT is on the main page. Go figure lol
| |
"Any reason in particular?

Actually it was closer to 5000! A couple of years ago I got attracted to RYM and decided to start rating stuff there instead for whatever reason. Then it was a very lengthy process to import my Sputnik ratings to RYM but I finally finished like a year later. Don't ask why I did this in the first place lol
| |
I was playing Pandemic (board game) with some buds and listening to this in the background. It was pretty glorious.
| |
Remember listening to 'One' and it didn't impress me and just had the feeling they were over pretentious and over rated and just couldn't hold on to a singer for more than 5 minutes. Through all that I'll still give this a listen but cant see it changing my opinion.
| |
I think this is their best yet
| |
The vocals sound like fucking Sevendust. So yeah this is terrible.
| |
Your terrible if that's honestly a criticism of yours
| |
yaWn

This album is a tremendous disappointment, especially coming after Altered State which was a mind blowing masterpiece. Dan's vocals do not compliment the style of the instrumentation on Polaris at all, especially when he starts to channel that nu-metal angst. Most of the time his voice sounds awkward in the mix, with instruments drowning him out. The tracks are formulaic and uninspired. The drumming and the guitar work is forgettable at best, and the tendency to use a spacy ambient fade out between every track is obviously just an effort to capitalize on the atmosphere that made Altered State such a success. The grooves are nothing special and aren't worth getting excited over. The album is produced to hell and back, it's entirely the product of studio magic and it's not hard to tell when listening, nothing sounds real or organic on this album.
2/5. and I think I am being generous.
| |
To be fair Altered State is as much or more studio magic than Polaris is.
| |
^But the spells actually worked, imo.
| |
By that logic, the only reason TesseracT got a pass on Altered State would have been because of the songwritting and superior vocals (his opinion). That reasoning has no relation to the production sounding "fake or non-organic".
Honestly if you're listening to TesseracT (or most of Djent for that matter) for organic instrumentation, your doing it wrong.
| |
I loved One because it gave Dan a chance to show off his amazing vocals. As others have mentioned, every minute of this record seems to be tripping him up. I didn't care for Altered State at all, and I don't think I'll enjoy this much either.
| |
AOTY
| |
I enjoyed it. Granted, I was doing homework while listening so it didn't have my full attention. Does this band just get hate because everyone here is a metal hipster that can't accept their popularity?
| |
No, there are a lot of people on this site who just love to hate everything. In the end you can't listen to comment nonsense because all you have to do is read other reviews or sometimes look at the album's average score to know that the hate is disproportionate. It's rare that you step into a comment section without reading a bunch of overblown negative comments.
