"the north carolina math-rockers..." lolololololol

Hmm, seems like this leaked several weeks ago. Very weak album unfortunately.
| |
Listened to the singles, actually I should say listened to the first 30 seconds and got bored
| |
between the DT and me
| |
A lot of people hating on this record are the same people who like this band less as they move further from their older sound. That's fair, but there is no way this is shit.
| |
this is shit
| |
lol
| |
GONNA LISTEN. And enjoy :D
| |
If the singer would shut the fuck up and stop trying to be the Mars Volta, this might be better.
| |
great as usual from these guys
| |
I've always loved the hate these guys get. Album's towards the lower end of their discography in terms of overall quality, but that's still a really fucking good album by BTBAM standards.
| |
I understand that a band evolving their sound is important. But for them to move more and more towards generic, cheesy, dreamtheatery prog metal is stupid and there are multiple parts on this album that make me fucking cringe because of how derivative and cheesy it is.
That being said I still like the album because I'm a sucker for BTBAM. A lot of the rest of this album is still sweet as hell.
| |
Silent Circus, Alaska and Colors are all great. The farther off the deep end these guys go, the less I can even stand listening to them.
| |
The Coma Machine is the best so far
| |
Between The Bad And Mediocre
| |
Wow, they've fully completed their transformation into Dream Theater. Not enjoying it at all.

that doesn't make sense

Listening to this now and am not expecting to be blown away. I'll still give it a fair shot, but I hate the direction they've gone in. The beauty in them used to be that they were so aggressive on the forefront but had so much underlying substance and influence. Take a song like White Walls and look at that badass riff and the "THIS IS ALL WE HAAAAVEEEE" part or whatever, but then it has that groovy baseline underneath everything and the result is prog metal song that captivates from start to finish. Seems like they're just trying way too hard at this point.
| |
Good god this album is bad. Can't even headbang to the riffs
| |
2/10 can't headbang
| |
Never really heard BTBAM as a "riff" band tbh, save for a couple memorable ones here and there.
| |
it sucks
| |
Its dream theater with some occasional harsher vocals. that's it.
| |
Seeing as this is has already generated a lot of hate in the comments, I'm more excited than ever to hear it. I like what I'm hearing so far, I thought the last two records were WAY overdone. This seems a little more toned down and focused, so I was secretly kinda waiting for this.
| |
After listening to this I definitely think it's better than what they've been doing but it still doesn't hold a candle to Colors or Alaska or anything. Solid 3.5/5.
| |
Very good album, glad they distinguish themselves more and more from the "core" scene.
| |
Ha ha ha. The typical elitist sputnik mentality shines again!
Love the album. Takes a few listens to fully appreciate as with any BTBAM.
| |
I'm so confused why this comment section is so negative. Album rules hard
| |
forgot about this band
| |
How? When these guys release something, most metalheads know about it.
| |
I dunno, I like it.
