get the hype train a-rolling
| | | FINALLY
| | | Trailer was cool. Musically it was fairly interesting, I'm interested.
| | | what happened to tnght
| | | they're been dead for a year +
| | | That's doing Hudson a pretty big disservice to refer to him just as a trap producer
| | | Yeah, I cringed a little when I read that.
| | | v excited to hear this
| | | Tbh I don't feel a lot of the negative connotations of "trap" (as in, obviously he makes a lot of hella wonky beats which are dizzy and ridiculous, but if I'm looking for one word a lot of his most recent output has been very hip-hop oriented), but then again I'm also a wide-eyed youngster who doesn't fully realize that most people hear "trap" and think "absolute shit". I mean obviously I could have said something like "Glaswegian beatsmith" but I'm going to save the pretension for a review
| | | were you by any chance the person who wrote that Nothing Was the Same Review saying Pound Cake is a trap song
| | | that was indeed not me

"In contrast to so much of his production work, Lantern is a surprisingly gentle listen, made up of sweeping, sweet-toothed instrumentals and emotive, off-kilter pop songs. With no hip-hop vocals or moments of made-for-the-rave build’n’drop, the album appears to be a wilful refutation of everything that has made Ross famous in the last two years. "
I'm honestly even more psyched at this point. It might end up like 7x7 BS #6 or it might really dwell on the r&b vibes or maybe it'll be totally different. TNGHT and Chimes showed a more lean, minimalist and less chaotic HudMo. I'm desperately hoping he'll release it 3 months earlier as some promotional stunt
