Going to buy this.
|
| |
yes.
|
| |
gonna consider getting this (if I can afford it)
|
| |
the Moonsorrow boxes ranged from 300-375 USD (before shipping) depending on the type you picked and
these are even bigger so brace yourselves guys.
|
| |
I would pay out for this seeing as Emperor are one of my favourites.
The Moonsorrow boxset would be bought if I liked everything they've done and unfortunately, their latest album was terrible.
|
| |
Their latest album isn't on it haha

Wow, that's awesome hahahaha I thought this was their entire career.
Well, it's either Moonsorrow or Emperor and I think I've made my decision. Glad I waited hahahaha.
|
| |
Yeah price is WAY to steep for me.I mean I really enjoy Emperor, but I dont see myself spending $500+
|
| |
way too much money, but it is cool i guess. but this:
specifically remastered for vinyl.
so dumb. there's no such thing as "mastered for vinyl", its just a way to get idiots to buy into another pointless remaster
|
| |
Hahahahaha so true Hype.
I don't own anything that's really special by the band and I will just start a crowd funding event so I can hug this box set before bedtime.
|
| |
Hoping I'll have enough for this

Vinyl remastering is not necessary for *all* music, but it certainly helps for most, especially metal. You can ask the band Esoteric about this - they went through several rounds of test pressings over the course of several years to get a couple of their albums properly prepared for vinyl, due to improper mastering adjustments at the plant level. Add on top of that that their frontman is a professional engineer - should tell you something.
The proof is in the pudding - check out any label that kicks out loads of albums direct from the CD master (not naming names) and compare with a label that produces from vinyl specific masters. The source and its potential limitations do have a factor - but the difference will fairly often be night and day.

i asked my roommate about this a while ago because i was sure it was just a buzzword (he is a professional audio engineer and has worked with many bands and labels in the underground death metal world) and what he said basically boiled down to "a good mix will sound good regardless, a bad mix will sound bad". so sure, if you sit down and make sure the mix is perfect for a vinyl release its going to sound better, but if you slapped that mix on a CD it would sound just as good (vinyl is objectively the less accurate medium and people only like it because of it's imperfections).
the problem is in the wording. there is really no such thing as a "vinyl specific remaster" unless youre only going to end up putting the master on a record. the result would be the same for both mediums, it's just a marketing tactic.
|
| |
exactly hype
|
| |
Just to clear things up, in their original post they said "properly" remastered for vinyl and when making the news article I mixed up the words and used specifically. I guess it changes the possible meaning of that sentence more than I initially realised haha
|
| |
probably, and i didnt mean that it was necessarily a bad thing, i just dont like when tactics that prey on the ignorance of the customer are used to sell stuff. just say its being remastered for this release, thats perfectly acceptable.
but then again pretty much all vinyl sales are the product of misinformation so i guess in the long run it doesnt really matter.

cough prophecy productions cough

this is 100% true. there've been a few bands that have just made one vinyl master and just threw it onto the cd too and it always sounds fantastic on both mediums
i actually find it really unusual that vinyl mixes more often than not, if done properly, have more dynamic range than cd considering the whole point of cd was to increase the amount of dynamic range you can achieve.
not to say all mixes with low dynamic range sound bad (they don't, bunch of my favorite records are brickwalled) but yeah, makes you want a bit more

Regardless, I'm sure Blood Music will do a great job with packaging and giving this release the justice it deserves.
And Wiz, they are also releasing Kivenkantaja, Verisäkeet, and V: Hävitetty in limited edition runs, as well as Tulimyrsky (extremely limited), which is great for me since I couldn't afford the box!
|
| |
i missed the box due to my boyfriend having surgery so i used the money to go up and take care of him after his surgery, now i can't afford it
would really like the tulimyrsky lp though, havitetty too
|
| |
@Crimson SHHHHH stop telling people I'm hoping to get a couple of those!
|
| |
Ahh I still wish I could have gotten that Moonsorrow box.. oh well I'll be happy with Kivenkantaja, Verisakeet, and V: Havitetty vinyls.
|
| |
The box is still available on their webstore if you have the money to spend on it
|
| |
Oops, lol Sorry Scream. :P Are you a member?
|
| |
No. Those Moonsorrow albums will actually be the first thing I purchase from these guys (not counting
bandcamp downloads) although I've been following them on Facebook for a while. Their stuff always
looks superb, it just hasn't been releases I'm interested enough in to own on vinyl (although a couple
came really close). Looking forward to getting Kivenkantaja and Havitetty though!
|
| |
I've got the gold Griseus vinyl from these guys, which I'm really happy about. I also can't wait for some Xanthochroid vinyls.

Cool, I've only ever ordered Ifing - Against This Weald and maudlin of the Well CD box, although I have Bath and Body Map on vinyl. I've been meaning to get the membership since last year so this is the first time I've ever been a member. I can imagine they'll have some vinyl left over since a lot of people who ordered the box set probably won't be interested in the single releases.
Money's tight, so I'll be planning on just getting V: Havitetty on colored vinyl!
|
| |
As much as I wouldn't mind having the early demos and EPs, it's obvious this is going to be outrageously overpriced. Definitely won't be worth it for me, since I already have three of their albums on vinyl.
On a related note, the next news I hear about Emperor better include some fucking US tour dates.
|
| |
This reminded me that I need to hear more of Ihsahn's solo work.
|
| |
they need to explain to the US government that black metal killings are just an exercise in culture
|
| |
Even though I just bought the back on black repressings of their studio albums im still gonna get this. Love emperor.
|
| |
I imagine these will probably be better quality than the BoB ones although damn man that's a lot of money haha
|
| |
Damn I had just bought a Bob pressing of Anthems a week before this.
