Nuclear Blast press release:

| |
Well, no doubt the new record will be over produced to shit thanks to Nuclear Blast.
As for the song, its standard Slayer and pre m/ for sure.
| |
It's ok, average for Slayer imo
It's m/ but nothing they haven't already done
| |
Was you expecting anything different?
| |
That chorus is Slayer haha, like seriously how many times have they done that?
| |
Lolno just stating the obvious :P
| |
I fucking called it that they'd be signing to Nuclear Blast and people dismissed what I was saying.
| |
I fucking called it that they'd be signing to Nuclear Blast and people dismissed what I was saying.
sucks that people were dismissing you man. hope you feel better now.
| |
I can dig this actually, then again I am a Slayer fanboy...
| |
Is that Paul or Dave on drums?
Solo is very Kerry, wah and shred.
Not bad though.
| |
Bostaph
| |
That's what I thought. I actually really liked his work on Divine Interventions. His fills sound better but Dave is way more
intense.
| |
really disappointing
| |
WELCOME BACK
| |
Bostaph will always be one of my fave drummers, dude is skilled as fuck.
| |
This was alright. Reminds me of War Ensemble
| |
Slayer need to do a ballad.
| |
This is pretty cool actually. What tuning are they using these days?
| |
half step down ?
| |
Sounds better than anything off the last album tbh.
| |
yeah
| |
"half step down ?"
Sounds deeper
| |
I dunno. pretty sure their first 5 albums were half step down. hardly listen to their newer stuff. might have changed.
| |
God Hates Us All was C# with a few in B standard on a 7 string. Last 2 albums also had a few in B but mostly they use half step down.
| |
Bostaph will always be one of my fave drummers, dude is skilled as fuck.
Hahahahahaha he's good but come on man.
Song was boring and sounded like it was a King written song which is no surprise. At least Gary Holt is a decent fill in for Jeff. But seriously though, band should throw in the towel and stop tarnishing the Hanneman/ Lombardo era of Slayer.
| |
Holt does the job alright, I wasn't terribly disappointed by his performance.
This really wasn't that bad, chorus was pretty alright.
| |
@Wiz You've obviously never jammed 'Divine Intervention'. Slayer doesn't complement his skill too well considering its thrash 24/7.
Album won't be good for sure, Kerry can't write for shit and I don't think he has ever produced a good guitar solo. I feel sorry for Tom, nicest guy in the world and he's stuck with a pure bellend.
| |
Shitty song really, bland riffs everywhere
| |
Over time Jeff became less and less involved and it's essentially been Kerry's band since God Hates.
| |
Meh. Sounds like they're devolving back to GHUA
| |
No Jeff, no Dave, don't care at this point. Can't listen to the song at work but I bet it's typical Kerry King. I'll listen when I get home but whatever.
| |

Agree 100%. Just not the same. It's going to be like Metallica after Cliff died. Bostaph is a decent drummer, but no where on level with Lombardo.
| |
Listen to 'Divine Intervention' and you might just change your mind about that.
| |
I mean it's ok, album will be boring.
| |
IMPLODE!!!!!!!!
nah this is lame
| |
Been there, jammed that :D I look at Bostaph like Tim Mallare from Overkill. Decent drummer, but had to sit on a throne that was occipued by a master.
One cannot possible listen to South of Heaven and Divine Intervention and say those are on the same level.
| |
Of course they aren't but DI was a good album in it's own right.
| |
'Decent drummer'
But he's better than that, there's a reason why Dave hardly ever played any stuff from GHUA and DI, cos he couldn't match Bostaph's complexity on the pedals, kit etc.
| |
also because no one wants to hear that shit
| |
DI is better than any Slayer album that came after.
| |
yea but every Slayer album that came before is better than DI.
| |
terrible
| |
True Lloyd, very true.
| |
damn, better than I expected honestly
i can dig it m/
| |
So DI is the fork in the road. Christ Illusion was only really saved by Dave. He suits that stuff.
| |
I thnk CI is the only thing from Slayer that really stayed with me post Seasons. Which makes sense as a lot of the songwriting for that album came during the Seasons sessions. Jeff could write some killer riffs. Rip :
| |
"I'm pretty sure that God still hates us AAAAALLLL!" I see what they did there.
| |
what about this song do ppl think makes it good lol wtf
| |
he can't yell high pitched anymore holy shit.
| |
People still give a shit about Slayer? It's 2014 is it not?
| |
Tom sounds like he has something stuck in his teeth
| |
yeah this isnt very good. just like I expected -_-
| |
It's okay,nothing really special
| |
Not bad, it's cool to actually hear some chunky heavy riffs again. These have been missing from slayer for a while. I found the "I'm pretty sure that god still hates us allll!!" bit pretty nostalgic too, even if I do consider that one of the weaker slayer albums
| |
Meh, it's alright. They should really just break up though, they've long overstayed their welcome.
| |
Especially now that their best bandmembers are gone
| |
what a god awful song
| |
It's alright-ish.
| |
No Jeff, no Slayer
| |
No Jeff, no Slayer [2]
| |
Better than Lords Of Summer though
| |
Wow, this freaking blows.
| |
Wow that chorus is bad, just no Slayer just stop.
| |
it's not their worst song, i'll give them that!
| |
"DI is better than any Slayer album that came after."
pleb I think you're drunk, christ illusion destroys divine
| |
Christ Illusion is actually very solid
| |
This literally sounds like it could have been taken off of any one of their past three albums
| |
yea this sounds like a slayer song.. if somebody told me Jeff and Dave were on this song I wouldnt doubt it.
| |
I'm surprised with this song but hell yeah count me on board
| |
who really cares about slayer at this point
| |
Not bad, but nothing really worth caring about. I wish Tom Araya didn't sound so bored.
At least kerry's solo is above average for him
| |
I like it.
Also, it's free to download http://www.slayer.net/us/implode#thankyou
| |
bet this sucks
| |
It does
| |
vox are weak, riffs are generic. not horrible but pretty meh
| |
Just boring.
Album will be boring as fuck.
| |
^Your name fits the music.
| |
It's not bad, just very average and boring.
| |
Its great ugh
| |
Get real for fuck sake.
This is turd.
| |
Na, I enjoyed it and its still better than all that 'revival thrash' bullshit.
| |
Tom sounds like hes got cotton balls in his mouth
| |
Sounds fine to me, as normal as he sounded on WPB tbh.
| |
Not sure where to set my expectations here...
Not expecting a whole ton without Lombardo and Hanneman though

| |
Will check, prob rules
| |
i like.. catchy.. 3.8/5
| |
this song is boring, the album will probably have like 2 decent tracks that everyone will forget about after 2 weeks
| |
RIP Jeff
| |
Will check this, but without my two favorite members of Slayer this just doesn't feel right
| |
@Wiz You've obviously never jammed 'Divine Intervention'. Slayer doesn't complement his skill too well considering its thrash 24/7.
I was jamming that when you were still shitting your pants : ). And very much aware that he did some work with Testament and a number of other bands but come on, he's run of the mill.
Also, I heard a tune from his Hell band and it sucked ass.
| |
And slayer continues down the road of self parody
| |
Vocals were weak but the riffs were decent. Generic thrash and bordering on self-parody at this point, like Spirit said, but the track wasn't bad. I actually enjoyed it. I'd rather they release consistent heavy generic crap than try to experiment more. Last thing I want is another Diabolus.
| |
Finally listened to it. Not as bad as I thought it was gonna be...but everything that needs to be said has been said in this thread already. It's a totally average song.
| |
Some great riffs on this
| |
not bad, not great. hopefully it's a grower
| |
'I was jamming that when you were still shitting your pants : ). And very much aware that he did some work with Testament and a number of other bands but come on, he's run of the mill.'
@Wiz First sentence reminded me of SeaAnemone...that your alt? Also, you are wrong on the second point too.
| |
I am me and only me. I'm a narcissist ya know!!!!
Also, From Hell is terrible and I bet 90% of this site would say the same thing too ; ). Remember when he was in that atrocious nu-metal band called Systematic? hahahahaha
| |
Holy shit, way fucking better than I expected. They lost the best musicians in the band, but this is better than just about anything on World Painted Blood.
| |
better than last album give a song or two
4.7/10
| |
real Meh.
| |
4/10
| |
lol I like that all someone needs to say is they're a fan of a particular drummer to provoke an argument. "Drummer x is one of my favourites." "No, you're wrong." k. Who cares where the dude stands objectively in a post so incredibly subjective?
| |
It's starting to grow on me. One of those songs that takes a few listens
| |
0/10
| |
Solo 1 is pretty lackluster, at the last minute or so, the song picks up a bit. Average, at most.
| |
sounds good to me
| |
This sucks so bad
| |
This is my first Slayer song to hear. It reminds of punk music more than metal, which is cool, but still wasn't that enjoyable.
| |
lol the fuck
| |
Dear Jeff,
I miss u. Unit 731 was great and you were the better songwriter.
Rip.
Chug,
| |
Is decent
| |
Part of the band died with Jeff, but remains Slayer.
Song's cool.
| |
sucks dick
| |
agreed
| |
bullshit song
| |
It doesn't suck THAT much... just the tip
| |
This is my first Slayer song to hear.
im sorry
| |
Love Slayer, but this was so boring I didn't even finish listening.
| |
Just dropping in to say this kicks ass.
kbye

"Over time Jeff became less and less involved and it's essentially been Kerry's band since God Hates."
thats why ive never liked post 90's slayer, actually i think their first 5 albums were gold but after that and Jeff started to share then, like you said in the 2000's Kerry dominated it became boring.
