Testament lose Greg Christian

2014-01-14 by Trey STAFF | 18 Comments
Testament have amicably parted ways with their original bassist, Greg Christian. No reason was given for his departure, but a replacement has already been announced. Testament will be rejoined by fretless bass player Steve DiGiorgio for the remainder of their tour as well as on the recording of their next album.

To put things in a different light -- Testament now features the rhythm section from Death's landmark release Individual Thought Patterns, as well as one of thrash metal's most versatile lead guitarists and, of course, the foundation of the band Chuck Billy and Eric Peterson. Hopes are high...

Sad news because he was a great bass player but with digiorgio on board they've now got the best rhythm section ever.

Yeah DiGiorgio played with Death but the question is: did he actually influence their songwriting? Because if Chuck and Andy wrote everything then his part on that album is kind of irrelevant.

This. Still, I don't want to see Testament becoming a "tech-thrash" band, although I love tech-thrash.

I'll take a tech-thrash Testament. Would be pretty cool, honestly.

Sucks since he seemed like a really cool guy but DiGiorgio is god. Hopefully he stays for a while

Heavy Testament, is good Testament. Sounds like they will have an even heavier influence. Excited.
