interesting i suppose... if i was the band i'd probably kill myself like 2 hours in though
| |
Woah
| |
I'm gonna go and cry the whole time while reminiscing about when I used this song to dull the pain of breaking up with my freshman-year girlfriend.
no, srsly
| |
fucking lol
I love this band but this is pretty fucking stupid
| |
why would they do this?...
| |
I love this band but this is pretty fucking stupid [2]
| |
I never really gave this band a go, but they do so much out there shit I ought to give it a try.
| |

| |
I love this band but this is pretty fucking stupid [3]
| |
this is.... what
| |
what the fuck
| |
This is one of the most normal things the MoMA has done in a while actually.
| |
Good lord....
| |
"Let's play on of our song for 6 consecutive hours"
"Why?"
"We're in a band. That's why."
| |
They'll never want to play this song again after this.
| |
damn just when I thought these dudes couldn't get any more boring they play the same fucking song for six hours
| |
Lolwut
| |
That's just over 100 play throughs
| |
This sounds awful for everyone involved.
| |
I find it hard to believe that this article isn't just one big typo and it is actually the Flaming Lips who will be playing "Race For The Prize" for 600 hours straight tomorrow and into the foreseeable future. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
| |
Sounds like a terrible waste of six hours.
| |
so do they get breaks or anything
what happens if one guy needs to piss or wants a cup of coffee or something
| |
why is this a thing
| |
i think The National has now realized that what doesn't kill makes you stronger
and this must be the most painful thing they have ever done
| |
wach its gonna be amazing, at first they are goign to play the song regular, and then people will start noticing the song is slowing down the more they play it.
And they are going to put some distortion into the song, and like, they are going to do SLOOOW DOOM versions of the song.
And they last time they play the song will be 34 minutes long.
| |

if that's the case it will be awesome
| |
I hope they get a half an hour tea break or work safe will be all over their ass!
| |
sounds stupid
| |
lol
| |
Probably the same reason that Andy Warhol made an 8 hour movie that is just a static shot of the
Empire State Building...because they can.
| |
they will never want to play the song again.
| |
they will never want to play the song again. [2]
I wonder if they're going to just do it continuously, or end the song, then count back in and start it over again? I feel bad for the drummer...
| |
This is insanity in it's purest form.
| |
At least play some different songs if you're gonna play for 6 hours straight lol.
| |
lol what
| |
This is going to be the best group nap session ever
| |
at least play geese...
| |
whats the fuckin point
| |
For those asking whats the point, its to accompany works from some icelandic artist
http://momaps1.org/calendar/view/439/
| |
they're gonna hate the fuck out of this song
| |
Oh...kay?
| |
cause i don't wanna get over you [∞]
| |
at least play geese...[2]
| |
seems like a really interesting concept, interested to see what the reaction to the piece is
plane's observation is apt, apt I say
| |
THIS IS HIGHLY IRREGULAR.
| |
This is just plain stupid.
| |
i hope Berninger gets black out drunk during this and start pissing all over
| |
Anyone consider the fact that by the the second time or third time through, they might start to experiment with the song? They could end up playing various renditions of it or straight up turn it into a different song altogether by the end of the six hours.
Playing a song over and over again begs for an evolution. I bet the band will start to switch things up a fair amount.
| |
if this is at an art exhibit, it most likely will be cycled through, i.e. groups come in and they play the song, then they eventually leave after it is over and they've looked at the work in-depth, then the cycle starts again. i like to think that they aren't literally just playing it over and over every second after it ends but rather in cycles. idk
| |
id rather watch this than listen to Niggas In Paris 100 times a ta concert
| |
6 hours great i could use a good nap
| |
6 hours is nothing, I could spend close to 9 hours practicing and rehearsing a new song with my band. Boring for people to watch maybe, but the band should find this pretty easy.
| |
6 hours of being trapped in hell
| |
"I find it hard to believe that this article isn't just one big typo and it is actually the Flaming Lips who will be playing "Race For The Prize" for 600 hours straight tomorrow and into the foreseeable future. I guess we'll just have to wait and see."
Lol, this cracked me up
| |
how could you think this is stupid? it's not an actual concert, it's an art exhibit, of course it's gonna be a little weird. but it's a really, really cool concept i think
| |
I guess we won't be seeing "Sorrow" in concert for a while.
| |
it's like people come in at different times and get a different experience out of the same song
| |
