New Trenches Demo/Album Update 2013-01-31 by Ignimbrite | 13 Comments | Metalcore/sludge metal group Trenches have posted an as-of-yet untitled song demo on their Facebook page for download. This will be taken from their upcoming sophomore full-length Reckoner, which, while originally intended to be separated into an EP consisting of songs written in 2008 and an LP consisting of newer material, is now likely to be released as a single album with both new material and "old" material that has been heavily tweaked and rewritten. It will drop sometime around August or September this year.
Reckoner will likely have around 12 tracks total, and the demo comes from what will probably be the album's final song. No word has been released on whether the untitled full-length intended to be released after the Reckoner EP has been scrapped, integrated into the Reckoner LP, or merely postponed.
Finally, David Powell of Emery and Beyond Oceans will be tracking drums for Reckoner. It is not known why Phil Hook, the band's original drummer, will not be participating in the new album.

Checked out the blast from the past thing on last.fm labs yesterday which tells you about bands you haven't listened to in ages. It said I hadn't listened to Trenches since July 2012 (feels longer than that). Now this news. There are no coincidences.
