Rush to mix new album 2007-01-20 by Alex101 | 7 Comments | According to a posting on the Rush fan site, Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson spoke with Canada's Rock Station (95.1 & 100.7 The Rock) earlier in the week about the group's new album, which is believed to have a working title of either Snakes and Arrows or Snakes and Ladders. Alex revealed that the band flew to Los Angeles on Monday, January 15 to begin mixing the CD and expects to put the finishing touches on the LP by the end of the month. The album took only 30 days to record — the shortest time Rush has taken to record a CD since 1977's A Farewell to Kings! Andrew MacNaughtan has been video-taping the entire project, with the possibility that a "making of" DVD will accompany the final product.
During the interview, Lifeson stated that Rush will launch a North American tour on June 12 or June 13, with plans to stay on the road through the end of the year, to be followed by dates in Europe and South America. When asked about Rush's exclusion from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Alex stated "I couldn't care less. Look who's up for induction — it's a joke".

Rush's new album is expected to be released late spring/early summer via Atlantic. The tracks were put to tape at Allaire Studios in upstate New York with co-producer Nick Raskulinecz. "I have never enjoyed the recording process so much, nor been so satisfied with the results," drummer Neil Peart wrote last month on his web site.
Peart previously told Billboard.com some of his lyrics for the new songs were inspired by his motorcycle journeys throughout the United States, chronicled in the recent book Roadshow: Landscape with Drums.
"Just seeing the power of evangelical Christianity and contrasting that with the power of fundamentalist religion all over the world in its different forms had a big effect on me," he said.

This is good news. The bolding kind of annoys me, though.
| | | I've got bored of Rush but never the less hope its a good record.
| | | I'm buying this as soon as it comes out.
| | | I love Rush! Can't wait for this album!
| | | Oh man. I'm going to buy this without listening to it first and then judge Rush as a band by how good it is.
May sound stupid but isn't that what everyone did with Metallica's St. Anger?
Of course I don't think that Rush can make bad albums. It's impossible for them.
| | | That should be cool. Rush is actually a feckin' sweet band.
| | | Possibility of a DVD? If Rush have it on tape, they release it on DVD. It's like the rules or something.
