RHCP To Rock Disneyland

2006-12-29 by megadeth101 | 21 Comments
The Red Hot Chili Peppers will entertain visitors to California's Disneyland Resort during the first few months of 2007 by helping to transform two of the resort's most popular rides with their music.

As part of the Disneyland Resort's "Year Of A Million Dreams" promotion, both the venerable Space Mountain attraction in Disneyland and the California Screamin' roller coaster in neighboring Disney's California Adventure will be given makeovers, sporting new lighting technology and fresh soundtracks featuring the music of the Chili Peppers.

Space Mountain -- which opened in 1976 and was recently given an extensive rebuild from the bottom up -- will become Rockin' Space Mountain during the promotion's run, with the band's 1989 cover of Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground" accompanying riders as they soar through the ride's virtual outer space setting.

Rockin' California Screamin' will also feature a new soundtrack in the form of the Chili Peppers' 1999 hit single "Around The World." The four-minute ride -- which takes guests from zero to 55 miles per hour in a mere four seconds -- is the world's longest steel-looping coaster, according to a press release.

1989 and 1999? Nothing off of Stadium Arcadium? Not only is Disney still raping my childhood, but they're still failing quite abysmally in their attempt to be hip and modern.

I thought it was bad enough when they made a rollercoaster about Aerosmith, but Jesus...This Message Edited On 12.29.06

Boo chili peppers?
Is that the new fad or something? I guess people feel cool by dissing famous bands, whether or not they are good.

The fact of the matter is, they are an overrated band. This Message Edited On 12.29.06

Overrated, yes.

Untalented, no. All the band members (save Keidis) have a bit of talent, and they know how to improvise very well.

The Chilli's are awesome, but the only one with actual talent is John. (Flea's basslines are not complicated like the majority of wanna be bass players believe.)

Guess I'm the only one who thinks this is a cool idea, being a pepper fan and all. The Aerosmith ride was actually lot of fun. No reason this shouldn't be.

The Aerosmith coaster was a cool ride, but the Aerosmith theme smacked of old people trying to be hip. And let's face facts, the pre-show to the coaster with the Aerosmith video was like being skullfucked with a cattle prod. The coaster itself could be totally lame and still seem great in comparison to the pre-show.This Message Edited On 12.29.06

As long as RHCP doesnt play much from stadium arcadium that would be pretty good actually. idk why hating RHCP is cool now either but ok.

Why all the hate for the Chilis here? I wouldn't say they are a great band but John F is on my top ten list of favorite guitarists. Check out some of his solo work. Flea is also an amazing bass player. I can't say im a huge fan of Anthony's singing though.
