I dunno, it was the first song I heard when I woke up and DT popped in my head. These guys have always reminded me of that Gothenburg stuff.

Maybe my comparison was sketchy but it always just sounded that way to me.

Some stuff from them gives me a Gothenburg vibe, but they're closer to At the Gates imo

I was always more of a casual listener to that group of bands so the nuances of each are beyond me.

Basically, DT use keyboards to characterize their sound, At the Gates use thrashier riffs, similar to what As I Lay Dying do, and In Flames are masterminds of supercatchy harmonized riffs

When The Powerless Rise first came out, I really enjoyed it. That soon wore off, though, and now I never listen to it. Maybe Awakened will hold more staying power.

Yeah I've always thought Miss May I was a AILD rip off band, just with way more breakdowns. This song is pretty standard AILD, but still pretty good. That intro scream got my dick a tad hard tho.

Missin the thrash sound from The Powerless Rise and some of Ocean. I feel like that's really the only thing seperating them from other metalcore bands in the current scene.

Ocean Between Us was probably their best. As good as Tim is I wish he would shut up sometimes. He tends to go on a but during parts (the breakdown in this song, which was good btw) that dont need it.

Honestly they should just leave all of the vocals to Tim, the singing is so mediocre that it actually takes away from songs. You would think that after all these years his singing would have become pretty good but the cleans in this song really sucked. It's not that his voice is bad, it's that he never does any interesting melodies or pitch changes.
