Ozzy Ready to Go Back Touring 2006-12-15 by Jom | 3 Comments | Yesterday on Dr. Phil, Sharon Osbourne was on as a guest. Amongst the things discussed, from her plastic surgeries she has had (http://youtube.com/watch?v=3rjjvSOHPvk) to her social life, it was inevitable that her husband would be brought up. And sure enough, Sharon said that Ozzy was "getting ready to tour next April," and that "three years this Christmas, he's been clean and sober."
It was previously reported that Ozzy was working on two brand new studio albums. The first album, tentatively set for release in February 2007, features Ozzy's band (including guitarist Zakk Wylde) recording before the last Ozzfest. The second album will be the soundtrack to Ozzy's musical about Grigory Rasputin, a controversial Russian politician. It's being reported that the album will be released first, then the play will debut on Broadway or as a touring show.
Says Ozzy (sans mumbling, for ease of reading):
We wrote a song called "Rasputin" for Ozzmosis but then it never got used, you know, and then every now and again I'd try to find this tape of songs. We wrote a bunch of songs, and I put this tape on and thought, "You know what? That would be a great musical!"
It kind of grew on its own. It's the traditional "Fiddler on the Roof"-type of music, plus the kind of Beatles-y kind of influence. There's this wonderful song that goes, "How dark it is before the dawn, the day begins, a child is born." It's beautiful. I'm really happy about it. I hope the rest of the world is. I spent 10 years of my fucking life in this thing.

Could be cool, I guess.
| | | I saw Ozzy second stage at Ozzfest this year and it was the sickest thing ever! Totally seeing him as many times as possible!
| | | Rasputin rocks, perhaps too much for a musical. But his description of the music for the musical doesn't seem very Ozzy.
