David Roth Back With Van Halen? 2006-10-26 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 12 Comments | MelodicRock.com reports that David Lee Roth is in discussion with Van Halen regarding a possible tour together next year.
The website quotes an unnamed "highly placed" source for the information, adding, "While nothing in the world of Van Halen is set until the band walk out on stage, I can confirm that negotiations between all parties have been underway for some time, trying to put together a big 2007 re-union tour."
Roth left Van Halen in 1985 citing massive personal difficulties with the Van Halen brothers, and barring a few public appearance together and two new recordings to promote their 1996 best of collection, hasn't re-united with the band for either an album or a tour. He was replaced first by ex-Montrose singer Sammy Hagar and later by ex-Extreme singer Gary Cherone.
Hagar quit Van Halen for the second time last year, citing Eddie Van Halen's drunkenness on tour as a factor. It's unknown whether bassist Michael Anthony is yet a factor in negotiations, as he's feuded with the brothers in recent months and has gone on the record claiming they didn't want him to take part in the last reunion tour.
MelodicRock.com added, "What I also know is that there will be no new Van Halen release to go with the tour, such as The Best Of Both World's in 2004. There is no plans for a new compilation or a new studio album - just the tour."

wud b kool if roth came bak!
| | | That would be so awesome.
They better come to Alberta
| | | While it would be cool and all, tickets to this would cost way more than Van Halen in the late 00's are worth.
| | | Hells yah i would so go to that show
| | | Haven't they broken up yet?
| | | That'd be awesome, but they wouldn't likely come to my state, no one does (except Shinedown and Crossfade).
| | | This would be awesome. But theres a 99.999% chance it won't happen. So don't get excited. Hell, even if they start selling tickets, there's a pretty big chance one of 'em is just gonna get drunk, punch a band mate, and ruin the whole thing.
VH is my favorite band, though. So yea, it would be cool. I'm just saying, don't get excited.
