I guess it would be insulting to christians.
(slightly off topic) But the Da Vinci code, I dont know why people were offended because its so obviously wrong and pretty much wrong on many accounts anyhu. This Message Edited On 10.07.06

HAHA that's hilarious. I would also like to add my two cents...
according to the group, it had the potential to cause great offence well guess what, as a Christian myself I can say that the Bible has potential to offend others as well, quick lets yank those off of the shelf. Idiots... at least the album is doing well in the US. *patiently awaits a humorous SoH comment*

i agree with you, towhat end, the bible does have potential to offend but you donmt see it getting taking off shelves or whatever they put them on. i dont like slayer but this is so dumb.

cue an extensive "fuck you" tour of india by slayer!!!
seriously though, this is free speech going straight down the fucking pan!!! slayer are just expressing an opinion, it's not like people are forced to agree or even listen!!!
|
| |
What ever happened to just ignoring something if it offends you?
|
| |
Have all Slayer records been banned? Cos they have been antichristian their whole career.

If I lived in India, I'd probably riot right now.
A complaint was also sent to Mumbai's police commissioner, stating that the album "will affect the sensibilities of the Muslims on the track 'Jihad' and secular Indians who have respect for all faiths."
Respect for all faiths my a*s. And Muslims might be offended by 'Jihad'? Last time I checked, Middle-East muslims had a keg-party after 9/11 happened. Yea, they're gonna get REAL offended buddy, let me tell ya...
Oh well, India's loss. The album owns. This Message Edited On 10.07.06

Eh, I know I was politically incorrect with that 'Middle-East' thing and all with India, but I still classify them with that general area. I'm very thick-headed.

I'm surprised this made news here. I'm surprised it's even an issue... metal (more so thrash metal) is a wee miniscule thing here. But things are kinda sensitive.. so I guess they're just playing safe.

I'm very thick-headed. originally posted by southofheaven11
I wouldn't say that's necessarily true but atatcking a region on teh rgounds of "something you heard" about poeple who follow a faith in taht area wouldn't necessarily be considered intelligent. This Message Edited On 10.08.06

really though isnt one of the band members catholic?

Um, burton.and.gas, really grammar/spell check before you post dude. No offense, but I honestly can't even comprehend what you just posted due to everything being wack. Butwhen I referring to myself as being thick-headed, I meant I like to think that India is part of the Middle-East and I don't feel like thinking it's not.
But from what I did understand, I can tell yout that Slayer probably doesn't care. Yes, Tom is a Roman Catholic. I don't feel like having to go through and explain Slayer's viewpoint on everything, but I can tell you that about 95% of their anti-religous lyrical themes come from atheist Kerry King. This Message Edited On 10.08.06

I love Slayer so damn much... but they take the anti-religion or whatever to far sometimes.
