Green Day and U2 Together

2006-09-08 by punkbass0327 | 25 Comments
Two of the world's biggest bands, Green Day and U2, will be getting together in studio in an effort to benefit Music Rising. Music Rising is an organization that aids musicians from the New Orleans area who were devasted by Hurrican Katrina. More specifically, Music Rising provides instruments and equipment to musicians who lost what they had in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
Green Day says that U2 approached them, and Green Day agreed it would be a good thing. "One year later, the devastation is still fresh in our minds, and we'd like to keep it in yours. New Orleans has always been a special place to us, being a hotbed of music and creativity, and it's hard to believe parts of the gulf region still remain devastated. We feel it's important to continue to raise awareness."
The song the bands will be covering is "The Saints are Coming," which was originally written by a Scottish punk band called the Skids.

even though it might not be good, it is very nice to see two bands that are so different coming together for a great cause.

"Bush Sucks," exclaims Bono and Billy Joe.

"Why?" inquisitions the reporter.

"... he hates black people?" retaliate the rock gods.

Both bands have become so watered-down from their original sounds in the past decade that it's only appropriate for them to play for the benefit of flooded areas.

Don't tell ignorant people to leave; they need this site even more than smart people because they have something to gain from it. Hell, maybe someday YOU might even learn something!

A very noble cause, as New Orleans has produced some excellent music through the decades. I love the fact that they are doing a Skids cover. I love their music. How can you say they are boring smokersdieyounger? They are so much better then some of these crappy punk bands like Rise Against and Anti-Flag or even Propagandhi that exist now. Yeesh.
