Pennywise Hire Teglas Full-Time

2010-02-17 by Damrod EMERITUS | 16 Comments
Pennywise have announced Ignite's Zoli Teglas as their new full-time singer. Teglas had been filling in since the departure of longtime member Jim Lindberg earlier this year.

The band announced the news on MySpace:

"Teglas will join Pennywise on its upcoming European tour which kicks off this April. That tour will be preceded by a few warm up West Coast dates that start on March 17 in San Diego, CA. Pennywise is currently at work on a new record, its first featuring the new lineup.

After the sudden departure of former singer Jim Lindberg, a member of Pennywise for 19 years, guitarist Fletcher Dragge called Teglas a “natural choice” to take over vocal duties for the band."

Teglas added: "I'm stoked to be singing with Pennywise. I'm a huge fan of the band and am super grateful to share the stage with my long time friends Fletcher, Byron and Randy."

I've never heard Ignite. Will his voice fit the band and the old songs or is this going to be a big change?

I think it's quite a change. Zoli has a very unique voice in punk/ melodic hardcore, you can always spot an Ignite song solely based on the vocals.

I am really looking forward to this, as I've basically forsaken Pennywise after Straight Ahead. I'm curious how this will turn out for Ignite and Pennywise.

BTW You should definately check out Ignite, awesome band

Ignite was pretty cool when I saw them with Strike Anywhere and Modern Life Is War a few years back. Used to love PW in high school, but holy shit did they get old fast.

I still love PW. I'll check out Ignite if only to soften the shock of any upcoming PW album.

Ignite is awesome but.. whether the band is or not, the singer is a chrsitian so it'll be interesting now that Zoli is singing for Pennywise.

Ignite is amazing, mostly due to Zoli's vocals so, for the first time in my 19 years of living i'm interested in Pennywise
