He has a big influence on songwriting, so I wonder what will happen next...
| |
Man...Seriously? As long as he gets well in the end it's a good thing.
| |
so yeah... this sucks
| |
Hopefully this means a change in their sound for the better.
| |
fucking BALLS. goddamnit.
| |
Well
| |
This kind of blows.
| |
interesting
| |
This fucking sucks, still, it's probably for the best in the long run if it helps him to kick his alcoholism.
| |
ahem, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
fuck fuck fuck, goddamn, no. Jesper really has a knack for riffs, and this is the most disturbing, bad, horryfying news article ever. Shit, I'm so sad right now
| |
@Crysis - In since he was a founding member, I heavily doubt a new member will have them go in a better direction, probably even more mainstream.
| |
What JWT said. This is bad news for In Flames. Jesper was my favorite part of their sound for sure.
| |
Same, I fear the days of Whoracle and the Jester Race are long gone and the only member who I believe who could have turned that around just left. That's how I feel.
| |
sucks.
| |
Damn...I know most people despised A Sense of Purpose, but goddammit if it didn't have some of the catchiest riffs I've ever heard.
I may actually...not be looking forward to the new album.
| |
I had hope for a revival of their early sound.
"Had" being the key word.
| |

I agree with you, but I can still hope haha
| |
If he's been a main song writer maybe it's for the best that he lest seeing how the bands last few albums have been less than great. New blood could do the band well
| |
In Flames continue to circle the toilet bowl...
| |
I read it as "In Flames Guitarist Dies"
| |
this stinks
| |
FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.
At least I saw them before this happened.
| |
Hopefully this means a change in their sound for the better.

He was the last remaining 'significant' talent of this band. Too bad, hope he overcomes his addiction of alcohol and Star Wars.
| |
band rules
| |
damn it. in flames is done for at this point
| |
man, now they'll never recreate songs like "the chosen pessimist". hails indeed
| |
Wow this really is sad. Maybe they'll grab a founding Dark Tranquility quitarist lol
| |
This really sucks, Jesper was In Flames (or at least the In Flames of old). Nothing good can come from this...
| |
Well, new in flames sucks, so that won't change anything.
BUT, dimension zero (Jesper's side band) are kinda good. So, if he goes back with his old band, and start recording, he might create a new classic.
| |
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
| |
fuck, knew it wasn't going to be Bjorn, not that I really wanted to lose either of them. What's left of In Flames doesn't look too promising, will definitely be watching to see what Jesper comes up with in the future tho. Godspeed, hope he gets well soon.
Agreed with some of the above tho, really glad I had a chance to see them with him
| |
Bring back Mikael Stanne on vocals that guy isn't doing anything.
| |
This freaking sucks
| |
They cancelled their UK tour last year cause of his addiction. I had tickets and everything ;_;
All the best to him though, the old albums are some of my favourite albums ever. It will be interesting to see where they go next.
| |
Oh well. ASOP wasn't bad, but it (along with the previous two releases) just reeked of metalcore. In Flames' best days are far behind them either way.
And they never were going back to the melodeath sound.
| |
damn............
i thought the drummer(well, guitarist back then) was the other founding member? am i wrong?
| |
oh no im wrong
| |
fuck this
can't really blame him though, wish him the best of luck
| |
Hope the next In Flames album is as good as A Sense of Purpose, I think they're pretty consistent and am hoping for a repeat.
| |
ARGH! This sucks heavily. Sure, I'm a fan of the older works, but I'm actually the only person on the whole world who loved both A Sense of Purpose and Soundtrack to your Escape.
.… May the Force be with you!" Shut up.
I read it as "In Flames Guitarist Dies"
So did I. My heart skipped a beat when I read it like that.
| |
sad news
| |
Too bad, he was quite good.
| |
NOOOO how can it be? glad I saw them thrice.
| |
sad
| |
Travis Barker to join in flames
| |
Travis Barker is a drummer
| |
@ TheHamburgerman
I loved STTYE as well. Different in a good way I thought.
| |
good for him
| |
"I’m far from done with music, metal, or whatever my direction is taking me, so be sure to hear from me in the future. "
May be some promise with this.
Maybe he wont feel any pressure to make mainstream style music anymore. Still sad though as IF was the first metal band I was really into. I had always hoped they would return to something similar to their earlier sound and I had always considered him to be basically the entirety of IF.
| |
I hope In Flames dies already. Their new stuff is so embarrassing.
| |
thanks for sharing. valuable opinion
| |
The only way In Flames will ever shift their music back is if they lose Anders.
| |
their music will still get worse though
| |
I still love IF, but this is shitty news. Hope he kicks the addiction though.
| |
I hope they just stay a touring band.
| |
Their last cd was like one 45 minute song. I swear they used the same riff in every track
| |
bite your tongue star wars rules
| |
This is probably the worst music news I've heard in a while...not cool.
| |
Jesper is mah boy
One of the originators of the Gothenburg sound
| |
Dammit, just realised I never got to see them live with him in the band. I saw them early last year, on their first few shows after he went into rehab.
| |
The only time I ever saw them was when they had a 20 minute setlist on the main stage of Ozzfest. 20 minutes on the main stage at the then largest metal tour in the nation is a disgrace for any band, they deserved better.
| |
What?
What the hell? This is such a shame. Man, this sucks so much ass.
He didnt really go into details about why he is quitting though. I assume it's due to his ongoing problems with alchohol?
| |
Yeah I guess, I hope he gets it all sorted out then returns.
| |
Damn, this is a shame
| |
i always admired the lead lines he wrote. i reckon the next album will be worse than ASOP.
| |
oh no how are they going to play shitty melodeath now
although circumstances suck
| |
ok, soo... last album sucked the most and now the last founding member quits? Wtf is gonna is the next album gonna sound like?!
| |
Frak! One of my favorite guitarists and songwriters from one of my favorite bands. Lame.
| |
Band is pretty bad... i hope the dude gets better though.
| |
This can only be for the better. In Flames can sink no lower than in A Sense Of Purpose. Hopefully the vocalist will be next
So yeah, I guess this is good news
| |
Maybe they needed a new guitarist anyways...
| |
The whole band should quit imo.
| |
ASOP was pretty meh tbh.
Maybe they will make another "Colony", Ordinary Story kicked ass.
| |
What the fuck, since when is it a BAD thing for metal guitarists to be alcoholics? Cowboy the fuck up.
| |
This is fucking gash.
| |
He was their principal songwriter, so it's a bit much to make ANY sort of bets into their musical direction from here on in. Also, ASOP rocked so stfu.
| |
lulz^
| |
In Flames is one of the most influential bands in modern metal, and their older albums are classic.
i almost died when i read this.
| |
Hmmmmmmmm =/
Not good.
Their last album wasn't the best they did either.
| |
O RLY???
| |
f@@k !
May the force be with him, lol, and not the bottle...
| |
