Hooray For New Metallica!

2006-08-14 by south_of_heaven 11 | 25 Comments
Metallica performed another new song -- tentatively dubbed "The Other New Song" -- during their headlining appearance Saturday night (August 12) at the Summer Sonic Festival in Tokyo, Japan. According to one Blabbermouth.net visitor who attended the concert, the song is "totally different from 'New Song No.1'. It's about three minutes long and very fast and seems to be based around two searing [Kirk] Hammett solos. It was a very rough performance, especially from Lars [Ulrich] but definitely shows promise."

Metallica is currently writing material for its ninth studio effort, which is tentatively expected in the summer or early fall of 2007. "I think we've realized that the creative process works a little slower for us than it used to, and we're OK with that," Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich recently told BBC Radio 1. "It's not a bad thing, unless, of course, you're waiting for a record."

The high quality video of the other 'new' song that Metallica performed earlier is of great quality. Too bad that song is decent and slightly boring

I lost faith in these guys after Kill 'em All, then again after any album from then on. This song nor the other doesn't really impress me much.

Right........So when exactly did you have faith in Metallica? I really think they may have come to a great compromise of old and new.

My bad. I can understand the MP3 site one and the video one, but the other one was a link to youtube...why'd that one go?

good luck is all i can say. i hope they include rob in the songwriting, spice it up with some sweet basslines. as long as there are solos, thats a guaranteed step up from St. Anger.

It's alright if you put a youtube link in there. I'd appreciate it if you did since I'd like to see the video but I have no idea where to look.

the St. Anger album wasn't too bad, i mean dont get me wrong i dont like it, but Metallica has some huge shoes to fill up after the Metallica Album (Black Album).

by the way, what was up with Lars' snare in St. Anger, it sounded like a snare was but on a floor tom or something lol
