New Iron Maiden Song Avialable

2006-08-10 by temporary | 20 Comments
British metal legends Iron Maiden have made Different World, the opener from their forthcoming release A Matter of Life and Death avaliable on their official website (www.ironmaiden.com) Steve Harris says on it:

"It wasn't intentional when we sat down and wrote it, but as soon as it was finished, we thought "Thin Lizzy!" The vocals remind me a lot of Phill Lynott and the low melodies he used to sing. As soon as we finished this, I knew it was going to be a single."

A Matter of Life and Death is due out on August 28th in most of the world, August 29th in Canada, and September 5th in the US on Sanctuary Records.

Its really awsome, even better than Reincarnatin of Benjamin Breeg. Definitly on a par with past openers like The Wicker Man, Moonchild, Where Eagles Dare, and dare I saw Aces High.

This is extremely disappointing. I was expecting an Iron Maiden metal song, not Brice Dikinson singing to a generic pop rock song. This Message Edited On 08.11.06

I don't really like the chorus...

The rest of the song is pretty good though. The song sort of reminds me of Wildest Dreams.

Not so bad, I'm digging the solo but the verse feel is a tad standard. I'll probably check the album out. This Message Edited On 08.11.06

I've listened to about 20 seconds of it, and it sounds like most Iron Maiden songs. And it's defenitley metal, and all Iron Maiden songs have a pop quality to them...Fear Of The Dark, Number Of The Beast, Dream Of Mirrors.

Dream of Mirrors? Thats one of their proggiest songs.

Anyways, on repeated listens its definitly not The Wicker Man or Aces High quality
as far as openers go, but I like it more than Wildest Dreams for sure. This Message Edited On 08.11.06

That last "new" Iron Maiden song was in 1988.

Old Iron Maiden wasn't the least bit poppy.

It´s just another standard Maiden song!!

Standard intro
Standard verse
Different chorus (nice/catchy)
Standard solos

Not bad... but not good... just a kind of deja vu feeling.

Fear Of The Dark has a huge chorus, and hook as do many of Maidens songs.
