eh. in true deftones fashion. pushing back yet another album. it wouldn't be quite the same if it got it's fall 2009 release. cant wait.

The fact that they have TWO albums finished and are just holding on to them is soooo agonizing. I know Eros was shelved because of Chi, but I don't think this one has much to do with his situation. Deftones are notorious for doing stuff like this. SNW got pushed back by a total of like 15 months before it finally came out.

Wow that must have been annoying haha. But the wait makes it all the more exciting for when it finally does come out.

^it also raises expectations big time...hopefully they can live up to it. i'm confident they can though.

The 'tones always seem to annoy with their release dates, and changes etc.
But they've yet to disappoint me with any of their actual albums, so i'll hold out.

To be fair, we only found out about this new album (not Eros) being released before the end of this year only a few weeks back. Feb next year ain't that long away

no it's not. It would be nice if they'd release Eros next year too. Double Deftones dosage. Alliteration much?

I'd be suprised if Eros gets released at all tbh.
My thoughts are if Chi gets better soon and gets back in the band they'll probably just write a whole bunch of new songs. Me thinks the best tracks on Eros might just end up as b-sides.

Didn't they scrap Eros because it wasn't a fair representation of what the band was at the time?
Going back and releasing it later on would be kind of a step back then wouldn't it?

Deviant: yeah, it probably would be a step back, because I do remember hearing that about it now that you mention it. They said they were going heavier with Eros and more experimental with the new one, so I'm very interested to hear both. Hopefully Eros sees the light of day at some point..

What is Chi's current condition?

Yeah, I think Chino commented on the heaviness by saying the album had a real "fuck off and die" attitude to it or something like that lol.
Maybe they though the whole heavy thing wasn't really suitable due to Chi's accident?
Maybe the new album is real chilled out and spacey/moody?

@EasternLight: They're kinda hard to categorize. InTheShallows bought up a bit of Glassjaw and some old school Chevelle for comparisons, which is as close as you could probably get. Bit of APC as well.

First time getting into them i'd say get Around The Fur first and work your way up.
Their best album is White Pony but if I had listened to that before ATF i'd probably respect that album less lol. Their first album Adrenaline is really good but it's more rooted in nu metal, so maybe check it out last?

EasternLight: they're one of my favorite bands ever, so I would definitely recommend them. Also, I just took a look at your ratings and I believe you'd dig 'em. Start with White Pony or self-titled, then get Saturday Night Wrist and the first two records (Around the Fur and Adrenaline) if you like them.

This annoying but oh well. To be honest if their claims of Eros being heavier is true I'm not that fussed about hearing it since their self-titled did the same thing and was disappointing compared to White Pony and SNW.

Oh man, their self-titled is my second favorite Deftones album after White Pony. I was disappointed at first too, but that album grew on me a bunch. SNW was a grower for me though too.. I'm always down with the chill AND heavy sides of Deftones.
