I generally find Mike Shinoda to be very likeable but linkin park sucks. the only good thing they've done is their Hybrid Theory EP

I don't know why, but I'm actually expecting something not terrible

After the (comparative) abomination that was Minutes, I'm expecting shit to get much better, hell, Dead By Sunrise is better than that

I hope this is better than Minutes to Midnight....if its a return to form I will be pleased. I'm losing hope in this band fast...

I will look into this when it drops, but my expectations are low as i hated Minutes To Midnight and I don't really listen to Meteora and hybrid Theory anymore although they were good records.

Hybrid Theory was and still is quite awesome. Everything thereafter ranges from good enough to bleh

I honestly can't see them turning things around. It'd come as a huge shock to me if the new album was anything above mediocre.

Well, idk if it will be good, but this will be it for me. If this record isnt remotely good at all then I have to close the door on listening to this band. I think they were just one of those things that interested me as a kid but once I broadened my horizons with music I realize they werent really anything special at all.

Hybrid Theory will still always be awesome though.

Hybrid Theory nostalgia and a genuine like for the last track on MTM are enough for me to be interested in this.

Shinoda contributes a hell of a lot towards songwriting, guitarwork and even produces most of the albums. His almost the band spokesman, they definitely need him.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he plays guitar when he isn't singing, and I know for sure he helps with lyrics and does a lot of behind the scenes work with producing and recording the album.

Huh, they really haven't done anything worth mentioning since their second album. And even those two aren't much to write home about. They were great when they cam out, but now they're kind of worn out.

I dunno, I like Linkin Park. Always have. Might just be the teenager in me, but I think they have some fantastic pop songs - some of the heaviest stuff to be in the pop charts this decade, too; which is kind of interesting.

they weren't really going anywhere with Hybrid, it was their debut, meteora was more focused and i was hoping they would continue in the same path they were heading until they went a bit... i don't even know what to call that third one.

basically they went shit after changing their original sound to a 'grown up' sound which really just was generic radio rock.
