On September 7, DJ Zane Lowe hosted the "Muse Night" on BBC Radio 1, during which he played a new song entitled 'Undisclosed Desires' twice in a row. The track has now been added to Youtube for streaming and can be heard below.

I think it's great that they embrace pop more on this record, since it's something they've always done well. Bliss, Falling Away With You, Starlight, and now this. It's not like the whole album will sound like this anyway, even though I wouldn't object because I've put all of the Resistance singles on repeat about twelve times the first time I heard them.

I was debating on which album to start with on Sept. 14th when both Porcupine Tree and Muse release their new stuff, and this just confirmed that it will be Porcupine Tree. I can dig bands that have a slight air of pretentiousness to them, and bands like enjoy making catchy tunes....but I find it difficult to reconcile both with Muse

I like how this article mentions the worst song they played during Muse Night, when in fact they played Unnatural Selection, MK Ultra, and some of Exogenesis. All of which sounded excellent and better than anything Muse has done before. Also, the album has received nothing but praise in the reviews it has received.

Riff in the beginning of Unnatural Selection is New Born riff combined with Hysteria intro. It is incredible.

A pretty cool song that is ruined for me because it sounds just like queen...

and this which is my favorite so far but too repetitive and altogether nothing to write home about.

I wish they would just release the whole thing as an album not song by song.

So after a couple full listens, I'm just as disappointed as I thought I might be. The "symphony" was one of the cheesier things I've heard today and I don't get by "Collateral Damage" is just Chopin with synths and a beat. It lacks any imagination...and Unnatural Selection is a mash up of several different Origin of Symmetry tracks. Guiding Light sounds like it should be played at the end of a Michael Bay movie from the 80's...man I'm fucking sad

upon first listen i was extremely disappointed, but you are 100% correct; people need to give this more of a chance. for some reason the syphony isn't clicking with me... it just seems like three different songs that are all too short and anti-climatic. the piano in part three is amazing though.

StrizzMatik

Album isn't that bad but a little disappointing after one listen. While it's definitely very well-made, there's a lack of rock on this one and too much keys/piano. Musically it's still pretty good but in comparing this to their earlier work, it has nothing on Absolution or OOS. "Unnatural Selection" is easily the best song on the record, but "MK Ultra" (did anyone else see that title and think "cheesy fighting game title"?) is pretty awesome too. "Exogenesis" is a little overrated, certainly not an album-saver, but definitely one of the highlights. The first half, however, does a great job of killing the momentum for this record, and "Uprising" is by far the worst opener Muse has written as of yet. "Undiscovered Desires" just sucks, flat-out, sounds like a bad Depeche Mode b-side.

Overall I can see it being a grower with time, much like Black Holes but at this point it's hit-or-miss.

The comment about it being a soulless record I think nails it right on the head. I think they put in a lot of effort to many songs
fun and catchy, which really clashes with their desire to make every song epic. They rely heavily on musical cliches to catch the
listener, where as before they were innovating and creating something totally new. I still find Matt playing a Chopin piano piece
with strings and calling it "collateral damage" kinda unnecessary...tell me he can't write his own piece that communicates the
same thing...
