definitely need time for this to grow on me as I was not impressed at first listen
|
| |
hmmmm fun , catchy ... but 100% disappointing .....
starting to worry about the new album ... 3 songs are mediocre so far
|
| |
god damn this is so...ugh....album might just be a disaster
|
| |
I'm gonna fucking love this album.
|
| |
It's official
Album will suck
|
| |
band sucks
|
| |
Matt really isn't a good enough vocalist to carry this song. Not even Bixler-Zavala could make this song work though, so...
...album is doomed.
|
| |
What's wrong with his vocals?
|
| |
Oh man, I've finally come to realize that this album will absolutely suck balls.
|
| |
Im not sure bout it yet, gah im hoping to all hope that this album will be good
|
| |
I already had a bad feeling about La RĂ©sistance from the beginning.
|
| |
Horrible. It sounds like a boyband, not Muse.
|
| |
Give me an example of a boy band that makes music like this.
|
| |
Excellent song, really catchy and has an amazing beat! Wouldn't surprise me if this one's released as a single.
|
| |
That was disappointing on first listen. I'm thinking the album will be hit and miss until Exogenesis; the symphony will make or break this album.
|
| |
I realy like it,
I first heard it when they were playing it live on friday in the town i live in
|
| |
really poor tbh, the rest of the album better not be like this.
|
| |
I think it's great that they embrace pop more on this record, since it's something they've always done well. Bliss, Falling Away With You, Starlight, and now this. It's not like the whole album will sound like this anyway, even though I wouldn't object because I've put all of the Resistance singles on repeat about twelve times the first time I heard them.
|
| |
btw
Starlight's tripe
|
| |
Whether or not you like it, the song proves that Muse enjoy writing pop songs. "Undisclosed Desires" was inevitable.
|
| |
I just wish they didn't enjoy writing "pop" songs and Matt picked up his guitar again
|
| |
the only muse i've listened to was Black Holes, and that was ok at best, so I'm not sure where to go from that
|
| |
Starlight is drivel but I like it.
This is rubbish however and I dislike it.
|
| |
The electric guitar is overdone anyway, its good to see such a mainstream band willing to part from their norm.
|
| |
I really hated this song. Annoyed the hell out of me. Agree with Waior. I can get into their other "pop" songs like Bliss and Starlight but this is terrible
|
| |
Do not want.
|
| |
It seems they've tried to be more experimental but ended up turning more mainstream
|
| |
It seems like they realized the clout of singles. I doubt the rest of the album will sound the same, "Eurasia" doesn't even really sound like this or Uprising.
|
| |
tell me when they post something that IS good...
|
| |
that was horrible
|
| |
tell me when they post something that IS good...
News item up next: Muse post great new song!
This one didn't even sound like Muse to me.
|
| |
I doubt the rest of the album will sound the same, "Eurasia" doesn't even really sound like this or Uprising.
Eurasia also doesn't sound great
|
| |
You traditionalist bastard.
|
| |
Songs like this work for Muse if they provide variety. But if half (or more) of the album sounds like this....
|
| |
is the album out? a lot of people have heard way more of the album than I have
|
| |
I imagine this album will fall in the meh-tastic category
|
| |
Not really adding anything new to the table here, but i've hated all that i've heard from this album so far. And i love Muse. This isn't Muse.
|
| |
eh, it's not that bad. it'll be a great single
|
| |
not bad
although the beat does sound like something a producer for britney spears would suggest. and i dont wanna hear them play this song live in 2 weeks. but not bad
|
| |
It definitely wasn't a waste of my time to listen for the second time, but I can't help wanting something better. I suppose that's true of all new releases. We'll see if the new album grows on me.
|
| |
I was debating on which album to start with on Sept. 14th when both Porcupine Tree and Muse release their new stuff, and this just confirmed that it will be Porcupine Tree. I can dig bands that have a slight air of pretentiousness to them, and bands like enjoy making catchy tunes....but I find it difficult to reconcile both with Muse
|
| |
I like how this article mentions the worst song they played during Muse Night, when in fact they played Unnatural Selection, MK Ultra, and some of Exogenesis. All of which sounded excellent and better than anything Muse has done before. Also, the album has received nothing but praise in the reviews it has received.
Riff in the beginning of Unnatural Selection is New Born riff combined with Hysteria intro. It is incredible.
|
| |
So the resistance just leaked today and it just so happens to be really good. Way better than BHAR but still not as good as OOS IMO. Dont judge this album by the singles and the 30 second previews.
|
| |
Like the guy above said, album leaked today. Listen to it if you have doubts, every other song is excellent, and Exogenesis is the best thing Matt has ever done by far.
|
| |
nothing off this album has really stuck out to me yet....gay
|
| |
Shame, it didn't live up to Sputnik's expectations.
|
| |
i dont like it one bit.
|
| |
be back later guys, I was just hired to choreograph a dance for the music video and tour.
|
| |
Muse fanboys are literally the worst
|
| |
So far as I see it they have released...
A pretty cool song that is ruined for me because it sounds just like queen...
A lackluster song...
Sucky artwork...
and this which is my favorite so far but too repetitive and altogether nothing to write home about.
I wish they would just release the whole thing as an album not song by song.
|
| |
I'm gonna listen to it just because it's by Muse, but you guys aren't making me feel very good.
|
| |
Zizzer, the album leaked today. The songs they have released so far are the worst of the bunch. Resistance is probably the next weakest but is a decent song. I Belong To You is kind of cheesy but is still good, clarinet solo works well. Everything else is awesome.
|
| |
Just listened to Unnatural Selection on 'tube and it sounds very good. I think I'm expecting an OTT, slightly stupid album so I wasn't too dissapointed by Undisclosed Desires.
|
| |
song is okay
|
| |
SO CATCHY! And poppy...
Everyone needs to get their heads out of their asses and just have a little fun, a song doesn't need to be long or super deep to be good.
Just enjoy it. Album should be awesome. I hope so anyway.
|
| |
just finished the album actually, and i have no fucking clue how i feel about it
|
| |
Hey, United States of Eurasia was terrific.
Uprising was a grower, but it definitely has many strong muse elements (great riff, spacey synth)
This song...ehhhh...maybe it'll be a grower too.
|
| |
Album artwork is killer. The songs on the other hand are not.
|
| |
this sounds like some euro dance music shit man.
might need some time to really digest it.
|
| |
This song is really not very good. It does sound like it was made by a mediocre 90s boy band.
|
| |
Ugh..
|
| |
i heard it on the radio, you know with actually good sound and everything, and the bass is the rug of the room and puts everything together, but yeah it starts out sounding like horseshit.
|
| |
Too dancy makes it sound generic.
|
| |
Underwhelming
|
| |
DAMMIT!!!
THIS SONG SUCKS!!
i wanted this song to be good so badly...
exogenesis will make or break the album
|
| |
Its alright
|
| |
Not a fan of poppy, besides I lost hope when I read the track list and album title. Both just screamed "generic!"
|
| |
Definitely didn't sound like a boy band, it's not catchy enough. Hopefully this album will be very bottom-heavy.
|
| |
Has this album leaked yet?
|
| |
According to diditleak, yes it has.
|
| |
Yes, and I am about to listen to it.
|
| |
dear god this album is awful
|
| |
what should i expect from the 3 symphonic pieces?
|
| |
whatev i'm listening now
|
| |
this reminded me of nsync
|
| |
The lyrics look and feel like they were written by a 14 year old who just bought his first rhyming dictionary. Absolution is one of my favorite albums, and BHaR has its kickass moments, but I'm quite concerned
|
| |
Yeah, they really should have rehashed their old material and did what everyone else said instead.
|
| |
this will suck. even worse than uprising
|
| |
you guys are all way too harsh. Wait till the damn thing comes out before you condemn it.
|
| |
This is by far the worst Muse song I've heard
|
| |
holy cow! It sounds mainstream as hell...
I'm still gonna buy this album the day it's out, seriously only showbiz was close to sucking so they can't really release a dodgey album...can they?
|
| |
low expectations ftw
|
| |
holy cow! It sounds mainstream as hell...
in all fairness this shouldn't bother you at all then
|
| |
so they can't really release a dodgey album...can they?
well, erm, yes. i would say the songs i've heard already make it 'dodgy' - unless the rest of the record is stellar top-notch material it's impossible to see it being anything higher than a 3.
in all fairness you gave 21CB a 5 so you'll probably like it, i'm not even taking the piss lol.
|
| |
"in all fairness you gave 21CB a 5 so you'll probably like it, i'm not even taking the piss lol."
lol that's a fair point!
"Their first four albums created boredom"
I fail to see how new born, hysteria, Knights, time is running out can be boring.
|
| |
Absolution is near-classic. Such an awesome album.
Origin and Black Holes interest me somewhat but are nowhere near as consistent.
|
| |
BHAR is my favourite because it got me into the band, although it could be equal with origin. absolution grew off me for whatever reason, it's still amazing though.
|
| |
Absolution is definitely my fave.
|
| |
Most people here should just save themselves the time and just get Resistance, Unnatural Selection, MK Ultra, and Exogenesis. Maybe I Belong To You if you like clarinet solos and french singing.
|
| |
you gave it a 5..
|
| |
in all fairness this shouldn't bother you at all then
where is Roach.
|
| |
That is one goofy album.
I'll have to listen to it a few more times before I can say anything about it, but right now I'm going to admit feeling slightly underwhelmed.
|
| |
mixed feelings towards this. glad to see a lot of people commenting on it. i think overall that the new album will be a huge success.
|
| |
Museisboring.
|
| |
Hey guys here's the album
http://www.filestube.com/0afe1434b5d80bae03ea/go.html
|
| |
Hey guys here's the album
Haaaaa
|
| |
lol, here is the album! http://www.mediafire.com/?l5vtvdyamwj
|
| |
Wrong.
|
| |
i love you
|
| |
why can't i be as right as you?
|
| |
Well if I knew the answers to all life's great questions...
|
| |
Can't touch anything off Absolution, or the song "Glorious" (b-side, but better than all of BHAR).
|
| |
Who the fuck cares what that bitch thinks
|
| |
"This band died to me when I heard Stephanie Meyer (Twilight author/fucking insane bitch) said they were her favorite band. WTF. "
lmao! omg, what a moron
|
| |
So after a couple full listens, I'm just as disappointed as I thought I might be. The "symphony" was one of the cheesier things I've heard today and I don't get by "Collateral Damage" is just Chopin with synths and a beat. It lacks any imagination...and Unnatural Selection is a mash up of several different Origin of Symmetry tracks. Guiding Light sounds like it should be played at the end of a Michael Bay movie from the 80's...man I'm fucking sad
|
| |
"Unnatural Selection is a mash up of several different Origin of Symmetry tracks."
going to have to totally agree with you here. the thing i kept thinking (as the song is just coming to a close) is 'new born... this sounds like new born. it's like new born... wtf?'
i love the rest though, (so far)
|
| |
Good album, better than Black Holes & revelations and Showbiz, but this album doesn't even come close to touching absolution or Origin of Symmetry.
but still good album to be honest. Needs more riffs. Unnatural Selection, MK Ultra and United States of Eurasia are the best songs IMO. Oh and the three part symphony is pretty good. other songs are just meh. it'll take awhile to grow on me.
|
| |
This album is painfully bland and soulless.
|
| |
man, i suppose that i'll be the first to say that the album isn't bad at all. in fact, i'd say it may even be as good as origin of symmetry. it took me a few listens to get to that point, but yeah, as an album, The Resistance is undoubtedly more mature, cohesive, and meaningful than most of Muse's past work. seriously, give it a fair listen
|
| |
Someone above me was digging Avenue Q.
Nice!
|
| |
"man, i suppose that i'll be the first to say that the album isn't bad at all. in fact, i'd say it may even be as good as origin of symmetry. it took me a few listens to get to that point, but yeah, as an album, The Resistance is undoubtedly more mature, cohesive, and meaningful than most of Muse's past work. seriously, give it a fair listen"
upon first listen i was extremely disappointed, but you are 100% correct; people need to give this more of a chance. for some reason the syphony isn't clicking with me... it just seems like three different songs that are all too short and anti-climatic. the piano in part three is amazing though.
|
| |
Album isn't that bad but a little disappointing after one listen. While it's definitely very well-made, there's a lack of rock on this one and too much keys/piano. Musically it's still pretty good but in comparing this to their earlier work, it has nothing on Absolution or OOS. "Unnatural Selection" is easily the best song on the record, but "MK Ultra" (did anyone else see that title and think "cheesy fighting game title"?) is pretty awesome too. "Exogenesis" is a little overrated, certainly not an album-saver, but definitely one of the highlights. The first half, however, does a great job of killing the momentum for this record, and "Uprising" is by far the worst opener Muse has written as of yet. "Undiscovered Desires" just sucks, flat-out, sounds like a bad Depeche Mode b-side.
Overall I can see it being a grower with time, much like Black Holes but at this point it's hit-or-miss.
|
| |
it's sitting around a 3.5, which is better than BHR imo,
part 2, 3 of the symphonies are quite good
|
| |
""Unnatural Selection" is easily the best song on the record"
what? that song is shit compared to the others. the ripping off of origin of symmetry in that song is SOOOO apparent. it's like new born pt 2, except worse. undisCLOSED* desires is one of the best songs on the album; how could you possibly think it's worse than US of E? or uprising?
|
| |
undisclosed desires and United states are tied for worst, and i don't give a shit if something muse does sounds like their previous work, it's their music, they can do what they want with it
|
| |
look at you being wrong
|
| |
Is it possible to rip yourself off?
|
| |
sure is
|
| |
" and i don't give a shit if something muse does sounds like their previous work, it's their music, they can do what they want with it"
yes, very insightful point. it's not that it 'sounds like' it's that it is the exact same. and yes, they can do whatever they want, but that doesn't make it good.
|
| |
song is excellent
|
| |
I actually kind of enjoyed this.
I'm hoping that the rest of the album is very different though; I couldn't stomach much of this.
|
| |
such a hard album to get into. have heard it 9 times. after 7 i decided a 4.5. first three listens suggested a 3 at max
|
| |
Do you have it in mp3 format?
|
| |
yes, i do. you don't use msn though eh? i remember talking to you on aim.
|
| |
Do you still have aim?
|
| |
not on this computer. my lap top is trashed. so, one of the two of us either has to dl msn or aim. not sure that i can dl it on this computer though.
|
| |
I can't download anything new on this computer either, can you e-mail it?
|
| |
can i email it all in one message? or do i need to send individual files?
|
| |
The comment about it being a soulless record I think nails it right on the head. I think they put in a lot of effort to many songs
fun and catchy, which really clashes with their desire to make every song epic. They rely heavily on musical cliches to catch the
listener, where as before they were innovating and creating something totally new. I still find Matt playing a Chopin piano piece
with strings and calling it "collateral damage" kinda unnecessary...tell me he can't write his own piece that communicates the
same thing...
|
| |
dis is amazin man didnt deafn me lyk supermassiv blk hol dd bruv roflmania
|
| |
i like this album
|
| |
Let me just say that Exogenesis as a whole feels much different if you know what the song is about and can imagine it happening while the song is playing. It makes for a very emotional journey.
|
| |
No such thing as too much keys.
|
| |
I liked it, but then I am a whore for this sort of thing.
|
| |
Nevermind me.
|
| |
