I for one enjoy SS and LT far more than tFSoP. Apparently the new record isn't going to be out till early 2010...dammit

I've been waiting for this album to drop all year. And now it doesn't look like it will. Oh well, I can listen to The Blackout until then.

I love it when someone states so & so's debut album was their best. LostProphets, MCRomance, Thursday, etc... Gimme a break. These bands (& more) had no idea what they were even doing with those debuts!

Don't really disagree with you there Davey, but it requires an seldomly defunct mind to claim their latest effort (Liberation Transmission) to be their best too ;).

Still curious what'll happen, even after the utter pisstake LT was. Guys need to make a move on though, gap between albums is getting big.

I have absolutely no issue (defunct mind or not) saying I liked 'Liberation Transmission' a lot. It was catchy mainstream rock that was a departure from their previous albums. Is it better than 'Start Something'? Probably not, but my mainstream leanings think the gap is not as big as what everyone makes it out to be. Definitely not an "utter pisstake" anyway.

Plus, if I've said it once, I'll say it a thousand times; Bands can genuinely improve after making a more mainstream directed album by taking all the positives & negatives and learning from them. Take Emery's new album as a perfect example. I think Lostprophets can do the same, especially since they have repeatedly claimed that this will be a harder effort.

i have to agree with ya daveyboy.... the problem with emery was that when they tried to create an album geared towards more of a mainstream audience, they totally abandoned the sound that their fans had come to love in their first two albums. i really could not stand "i'm only a man" and i'm glad to see their back to form with their latest material. as far as lostprophets go, i only know their radio hit "last train home" haha.

I couldn't even stand this band when I was a Freshmen in High School =)

I wouldn't agree that Emery "totally abandoned" their sound, but they definitely went in a more main stream direction. My argument is that their new album would not have been as good had I'm Only A Man not been recorded.

With Lostprophets, think of an album that is sort of full of tracks like 'Last Train Home' and you'll have a rough indication of what their last album was like. IMO, there was hardly a bad track on it, BUT lack of variation was a weakness.

Well put Davey. I've been waiting for their new record all year too >:|
I thought they did the whole poppy mainstream rock record thing extremely well on Liberation Transmission. Let's not forget how much Ian's vocals have improved since their first record.

i disagree that emery's new album wouldn't have been as good had I'm Only a Man not been recorded. the new stuff is an evolution of what emery started on their first two albums, while "Man" is an over-produced shot from left field. i'll have to check out lost prophets tho.

their last album was a big disappointment tbh. the heavier side of this band is far superior to the poppy side.

qft.
Start Something >>> everything else
FSOP is unlistenable cause Ian was beyond annoying...or they just got funding to clean up his voice on SS.

They've been a bit hit and miss since they started, really. I don't think this is likely to help them, especially since Rubin was at the very least a good drummer.

I heavily like their first two and Liberation Transmission was cool, even though it had filler

Apparently the new record will be their darkest one yet, high expectations

i really don't like this band beyond a couple tracks but somehow I think I'd be actually kinda sad if they broke up. They're pretty good at making music for twelve year olds and we all need that sometimes
