Anneke Van Giersbergen is my early pick for album of the year and Architects is my early pick for disappointment of the year.

In between those extremes, Epica, Moonspell, and Evergrey are all pretty good.

Still want to hear Black Sheep Wall, Helstar, Jetty Bones, Karima Walker, Landmvrks, NoFX, Sad Night Dynamite, Spelljammer, and Sydney Sprague.

Feeling uninspired by 2021's output thus far.

@ Johnny: This is kind of a new sound for Anneke. It's almost like a mix of Aurora, The Cranberries, and a little Meg & Dia.

TheNotrap

Evergrey will be my week jam, I'll also be checking Forhist, Iotunn and Vektor / Cryptosis.

@ Johnny: It's still Anneke, but I hear some new influences for sure. Whether or not you hear the same thing will depend on how familiar you are with the other bands I mentioned. It's still Anneke, for sure. She's just doing something a bit different. I do have a promo. Trying to write a review, but I'm so out of practice that's it's not as natural as it used to be.

Also fixed the few oversights and the early accidental inclusion.
