I haven't really heard anything that is coming out this week except for Toothgrinder. They're kind of a cool prog/tech/metalcore type band, but without any of the cheese.

Chthe’ilist links to the Lycus review.

Haha, all good Willie! Quite a few records on here that I'm keen for, Black Tusk and Sia being the main ones.

Holy shit new Avantasia is a banger so far. Tobi's voice sounded really stressed and worn out in 2013-2015 live performances so I was kinda worried but this is on par with peak Avantasia

Alright Avantasia, GG on the AOTYSF

They're power metal; right? I listened to the promo stream for like 20 seconds about a month ago, but if I remember right, it was power metal.

The new Sia is really really average and uninspired tbh. New Basement is decent so far.

Yeah Avantasia is pretty pompous symphonic metal with a few AOR tendencies. Tried to give it a spin but didn't enjoy it much.

Heard Nordic Union, pretty good hard rock.

Listening to Conan, now.

Gonna spin Conan next. Avoiding that DT like the plague

I watched the Youtube video of that The Gathering concert. It was pretty cool because it featured all their old members (even from the death/doom album). I don't know if the CD would be as cool, but I'll end up getting it.

Great video, very emotional. The Gathering are one of the best bands I've seen live.

I didn't know about that The Gathering album. Nice!

Here's the video link (home made, but not bad):

Thanks. The bandcamp stream is great, but a visual support for live stuff is always welcome.

I'm going to download the HD version of that Youtube video and put the professionally recorded songs over the top for the perfect mix.

Swee, oth interested in a bunch of these. Hexvessel, Toothgrinder, Avantasia and Conan mostly. Also want to check Nordic Union and Black Tusk out of curiousity.

Wanted to enjoy Hexvessel a bit more but didn't do much for me.

ScuroFantasma

Aww really? The artwork alone promised me good things. Ah well, still gonna jam it at some point.

Oh yeah, loved the artwork and Cosmic Truth along with its clip created really high expectations for me. It's not a bad album by any means but it's a bit "basic" and lacks that extra elements that would have made it more special to me. But definitely give it a whirl and maybe tell me how it sounds to you.
