I have to admit that I’m a bit worried by these song samples. Despite everything I’ve read, this album just sounds like it’s going to be very dull. With the exception of “The Termination Proclamation” and the title track, every song felt like something from Dead Heart in a Dead World (an album that I’m not a huge fan of). Worse, it sounded more tame and generic than that album did. You’d have to go all the way back to their debut to find something as lifeless. I hope I’m wrong because 30 second samples definitely aren’t the whole story, but this has definitely dampened my enthusiasm for this release.

This has me worried. Not enough to dismiss the album, but it definitely has kind of a streamlined vibe to it (again, I realize it's just 30 second samples but that's all I have to go on for now).

@Metalstyles: With a name like yours it should be required that you own two of Nevermore's albums: "The Politics of Ecstasy" and "This Godless Endeavor". This one, I'm definitely going to have to wait until the full album drops to make a choice.

That album is awesome man! Sure, it ain't thrashy like the other albums, it's kinda more ballad-y but damn every song is awesome!

Fuck it, I decided to bust out the headphones...

Clip sounds really good, a lot of the time it looks like they're just playing the choruses of each song. Shit, I am really looking forward to this.

Headphones won't help this. It does sound like they're just playing choruses, and they're generally a littlle more tame but nothing has ever sounded as bad as that "Build Your Wall" song.

I have been looking forward to this release for quite some time, because everything Nevermore has done, with the exception of Enemies of Reality and the s/t, has been brilliant. But, this curbed my enthusiasm more than i wanted it to.

Is it a bad thing that Jeff Loomis's solo album sounds miles ahead of this?

I love this band. I'll be disappointed by this experiment, but I'll get over it if they don't follow up with more of the same.
