Congrats to him. The Pumpkins might not be what they once were, but it would still be cool to be part of a band like them.

Yeah, but Billy Corgan is still a douche
|
| |
don't get me wrong i have always been and always will be a huge fan of the pumpkins, but i think it's time to just let it go. actually i think it was time to let it go about a decade ago, but corgan still hasn't realised.

^ i agree...it just feels like a played out joke at this point
|

Jimmy Chamberlain was a huge part of the Pumpkins sound to me...the albums without him sucked hard.
But, that wasn't really just because of the drumming but ole' Bill's evolution into bland songs.
Hey, maybe they can turn things around with the next album....
|
| |
rasputin, for once you took the words out of my mouth.
theyre just tainting their legacy now.
|
| |
I still have hope for these guys. But it definately won't be the some without Chamberlain. Also, Playswithpassion, I thought Adore was really good, Billy's voice was really suited to that kind of music imo.
|
| |
They should just start a new project, don't call it the Smashing Pumpkins.
Call it Raddle&Diaper Days
Yeah I'm jealous, what of it
|
| |
Hope this guy is good, JC's shoes are big one's to fill & I hope he manages to step up to the plate
Overall SP without Jimmy didn't honestly suck, I found Adore a very nice listen. It's just after the brilliant drumming he gave on Zeitgeist, it'll be a bigger void than before, in my eyes.

Another '90s band trying to stay relevant...
|

kinda reminds me of ilan rubin joining NIN

Another '90s band trying to stay relevant...
To be fair, they were probably in the top 3 bands of the 90s.
|
| |
I couldn't agree with you more, Rasputin. Wouldn't it just have been better if Billy went on to do something new or different - at least not of kept the Smashing Pumpkins name...
|
| |
"To be fair, they were probably in the top 3 bands of the 90s."
Nevertheless, they're from the 90s and they are still trying to stay relevant as evidenced by their sound.
Though I agree that their earlier albums were bursting with awesomeness.

Smashing Pumpkins the band is older than this kid
|
| |
He is Smashing Pumpkins. I'd be pretty pissed if a bunch of internet d-bags told me I couldn't be apart of a band that I created. If he wants to be "Smashing Pumpkins" then let him be "Smashing Pumpkins"
|
| |
Yea, I was being a little harsh, there are songs I like on the album and it doesn't suck...I'm just pissed that Jimmy's gone
|
| |
Lucky Kid.
|
| |
"Yea, I was being a little harsh, there are songs I like on the album and it doesn't suck...I'm just pissed that Jimmy's gone"
I can understand that, Jimmy was a really great drummer and it won't be the same without him.
|
| |
Yea, I checked out the new kid's band and they were pretty cool and his playing was great and all that...I was just influenced by Jimmy's playing from a rock standpoint...he really cut through and had a style to his playing that was all his own.
|
| |
Wow... I would think they would give up after the abortion known as "Zeitgeist"...
