Spawn of Possession Lose Vocalist

2009-06-10 by Tyler EMERITUS | 15 Comments
Spawn of Possession vocalist Mordechai Von Renvaktar (a.k.a. Jonas Renvaktar) has quit the band, citing a lack of motivation to continue as his reason.

He's posted the following updates on the band's official forums:
"Hi Friends

I have decided to leave Spawn of Possession after many years together with this amazing band.

I feel that the impact we’ve made on the death-metal scene have forever changed it and I am very happy to have been a part of it. I know that Jonas Bryssling have made a bunch of awesome songs and gathered fantastic musicians around him to create yet another masterpiece, but I just cannot find the motivation needed to follow S.O.P all the way through the recording/touring process once again and I know that there are competent and eager singers out there who will pour some well needed energy into the band so I've decided to step aside. I will continue to focus on my other musical projects and I truly wish Bryssling, Erlend and Richard all the best in their future work with the monstrous beast that is Spawn of Possession."

"...it took me a while to come to this decision. I love the band and have played with them for seven years... Spawn of Possession is a band of such extreme nature that it naturally needs to take up a very big portion of your life. Wife, Children etc and you know the story. But take it easy! Bryssling is picky and he won't be satisfied with nothing but the best singer there is to replace me. I'm sure it'll be someone reeeeally good and probably better than both me or Dennis. Just look who he found to play the bass"

In a perplexing move, Renvaktar also issued the following, more confusing statement to popular metal news site Blabbermouth, eliciting hoards of super serious reactions from super serious metalheads: "I have been forced to leave my duties in SPAWN OF POSSESSION to fully concentrate on the ongoing war against the sun-worshippers and to intensify my fight for eternal winter together with my brothers in ISTAPP. The war is expanding and I'm needed for the battle same as you. Our horde grows stronger by the minute and you all have to choose side. You are with us or you are not at all."

Spawn of Possession are currently recording their third, as-of-yet untitled album.

1) Who leaves in the middle of recording?
2) "wut" at the Blabbermouth statement.

They're praised as Gods and kind of have a cult following, while they're also seen as just average by some. Depends on who your talking to. Cult following usually gets more publicity.

I think Noctambulant is a great listen, but it's pretty subjective.

Read their SMN forums. I can't blame the guy with the way the people the forums act, hahaha. But, yeah..does come off that way.
