The Who start work on next album 2008-02-13 by Alex101 | 10 Comments | The Who's guitarist and songwriter Pete Townshend has revealed the band are already working on a follow up to 2006's Endless Wire.
That record was the band's first studio album in 24 years, and many speculated it could be their last - however, the two remaining members of the original group have now spoken about their future plans.
Townshend explained: "Roger [Daltrey, singer] is working on his own idea for an album for us, with the producer T-Bone Burnett, who is an old friend of mine."
Speaking in a blog on Thewho.com Townshend added: "I am hoping to come up with some songs for a more conventional Who record."
After their headline slots at T In The Park (2006) and Glastonbury (2007), he also hinted the group may play some festival shows this summer, saying: "I would want to do that [play festivals] purely for fun, and I don't want to turn it into a big tour. I need to stay focused on my writing."

Good to hear.
| | | Endless Wire was the most disappointing record ever for me.
| | | ^ agreed.
| | | Finally, everyone else seemed to love it =/
| | | After I heard Endless Wire, I'm convinced the world doesn't need anymore new music from The Who. I mean, great, amazing band, but it just isn't happening anymore creative wise I'm afraid.
| | | More dad-rock please.
| | | The Who arent the same without Entwistle.
| | | Or Moon.
| | | nice that they are on festivals. i saw them live at roskilde last year and it was the best damv live show i have ever experienced and probably ever will.
