Pupil Slicer are Thermal Runaways

2022-02-02 by Brendan Schroer STAFF | 27 Comments
UK mathcore trio Pupil Slicer have released the new single "Thermal Runaway", which originally premiered on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show this past weekend. The track features a guest appearance by Cara Drolshagen of The Armed and offers a moodier, more atmospheric take on the sound they presented on their debut album Mirrors. It is currently unknown whether "Thermal Runaway" will just be a standalone single or if it will make an appearance on a future full length album.

I was initially going to call the article "Pupil Slicer are Thermal Runaways" but the title was too long to fit :[

You know that if you edit the article you can make the title as long as you want, right?

Also, "Pupil Slicer"? Is Anakin Skywalker in this band?

surprising new direction for Pupil Slicer but it rips. contrary to what some in the thread are saying the vocals fit the sound quite well imo

^ I agree, they fit really well. They kinda remind me of Keith Buckley’s cleans in ETID, when he’s going for that creepy or unhinged approach

Any time someone tries to get "sassy" with vox (that Keith Buckley imitation vocalist in that other metalcore band does it too) it turns me off. SYSC a particularly bad offender also.

But the song is still good overall.
