Sputnik Renaissance II
|
| |
Album's gonna rule. Not really sold on Automata, but I really enjoy their work post-Colors
(BTBAM purists storming the thread with Alaska-related complains in 3...2...1...)
|
| |
Didn't hear the track 'Fix the Error' that premiered on SiriusXM today but I've heard great things. General feedback is that it's their best work since Parallax II. Here's hoping it drops to the rest of the internet tomorrow.
|
| |
yeah, I did some quick search but couldn't find a pirated copy
|
| |
jesus fuck not this shit again
|
| |
Will suck.
|
| |
Brotha WHAT the hell
|
| |
wat
|
| |
Preordered on vinyl bitches
|
| |
will be complete wankery but im still excited
|
| |
Nice, hopefully the sputnik thread will be full of respectful and intellectually stimulating comments
|
| |
What the literal fuck? This is so out of left field, but... Holy shit, a legitimate pro-gamer move.
|
| |
I'm excited I don't give a fuck lol
|
| |
shittier than the first i'm sure, and that already was like burnt asshole
|
| |
interesting timing, i just revisited the original a few days ago. it's very much a mixed bag--hopefully this one will have fewer bullshit digressions into bad genres
|
| |
Ok this is epic
|
| |
I remember liking Colors quite a bit. Not sure why it needs a sequel haha, but let's see what happens.
|
| |
legit it’s what put them on the map
|
| |
meme of the year
|
| |
I'm hoping the sequel keeps around the death metal aspects of Colors because I feel like that's been sorely missing since Parallax.
|
| |
ay actually got published with edits
still think Queen Theater is a good pun
|
| |
Wasn't expecting this, but I'm intrigued to see what they bring to the table this time around
|
| |
12 songs, 4 discs
that’s Colors 2
|
| |
"Queen Theater"
Lmaoooo
|
| |
If Colors is so good how come there's no Colors 2?
oh fuck
|
| |
ooouuuhhh it's gonna suck
|
| |
It has a huge suck curse to overcome now.
|
| |
I'm hoping the sequel keeps around the death metal aspects of Colors because I feel like that's been sorely missing since Parallax. [2]
|
| |
If this album ends up having breakdowns I'm gonna nut
|
| |
I would unironically listen to a 4-disc Colors 2 @Relinquished
|
| |
aaaaand preordered.
|
| |
Song ain't bad, COLOR me curious lmaoooo
|
| |
LMAO
|
| |
New song rips ngl. Felt like I was in church again with all those drum fills
Edit: Holy shit, there are four drummers in the new song
Drum Solo:
1. Mike Portnoy
2. Ken Schalk
3. Navene Koperweis
4. Blake Richardson
|
| |
--Nice, hopefully the sputnik thread will be full of respectful and intellectually stimulating comments--
dude. why you gotta cuck the site like that?
|
| |
The more mathcore the better
|
| |
I hope this means they go back to older songwriting because their last few albums have been dog shit
|
| |
Needz moar Opeth
|
| |
Here it is
|
| |
holy fuck so i get to combine my false sense of superiority by not caring about the football thing that's happening with my false sense of superiority by not caring about the btbam thing that's happening? sick!
|
| |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKSl0qE_DSQ
Here it is
|
| |
Dope artwork shame the band is bad
|
| |
Making a sequel record 15 years later always pans out as a good idea
|
| |
It's a BTBAM song. Nice, but nothing radically different or something that reminds me of colours
|
| |
Colours 2: The Colouring
Would’ve just been cool if the original was Colors and the new one was Colours to appease us English folk
|
| |
Kind of bad
|
| |
That spelling error is outrageous, agreed
|
| |
Oh, it's jazz. Wait, it's 70s rock. Wait, it's punk. Wait, it's hardcore punk. Wait, it's a drum solo. Wait, no, no, it's something else entirely! It's thrash! It's power metal! Guitar solo! Now get ready for... death metal, avant garde, and a blegh! Oh wait, we don't have a descriptor for what happens next... tune in later for more details about rainbows
|
| |
^ too much time on your hands there pal
|
| |
that's copy pasted by a comment on YT, so it's just spite... And caring that much about making fun of bands you don't like needs *some* free time, so yeah, you're not wrong
|
| |
i mean, idk it could be cool if i get like *really* bored later lol
|
| |
I'd still paste that comment if I liked the new song
|
| |
damn the single fucking sucks
|
| |
I am so tired of these guys by now
|
| |
I'm a big fan of these guys but that single was not what I wanted. Still excited for the album but that's a weird track to release as a single
|
| |
Whaaaaaaooooooot?
Fr tho [2]@ shemson and they couldn't even do that right but I guess these guys aren't quite the memers like periphery are.
|
| |
any band that resorts to making a sequel to a successful work in their discog is in serious trouble
|
| |
Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime II, was shit
Dream Theater making an album out of Metropolis Pt. I, was absolute success
Haken making two albums out of Cockroach King was also a success
Pain of Salvation return to The Perfect Element with Scarsick was meh
Also, Oldfield's return to Tubular Bells might be subpar, but ''Return to Ommadawn'' was quite successful
Same with Townsend's Z2. Dunno man, evidence shows that more often than not, the follow up is at least enjoyable
Do The Dear Hunter count for this one?
PS: Not counting continuous projects meant to be released the one after the other, though
|
| |
yall crazy this new song sum fire
|
| |
Y'all motherfuckers need jesus
|
| |

How do you feel about Mr.Bungle, and Bungle copy cat bands?
|
| |
I like Red Hot Chili Peppers
|
| |
^ they're from california
|
| |
Never crossed my mind
|
| |
RHCP might be the best Mr. Bungle copycats tbh
|
| |
Tommy's vocals on the new track rub me the wrong way, but it was pretty damn good. Definitely a BTBAM song lol
|
| |
New song is dumb fun tbh, full on cheese with those synths.
Those drum solos go ham as well.
|
| |
new song sounds like shit
|
| |
That single was complete trash, clown metal
|
| |
Damn the drums destroy.
Too many negative nancies on here. Not loving the production I think but let's see.
"clown metal" lool yeah I can see that.
|
| |
I fucking love colors so I hope this is good.
|
| |
clown metal ftw then
|
| |
"That single was complete trash, clown metal"
I mean they do have a album called The Silent Circus
|
| |
Song rules, the most fun I've had with a BTBAM song in a long time
|
| |
Colors is awesome so i'm stoked for this
|
| |
That single is all over the place. Kind of a fun listen but not sure I need to hear it again.
|
| |
That's how I felt. It was fun, but I wouldn't listen to it again.
|
| |
This band obviously has nothing to further prove anymore and is just fucking having fun and I’m here for it, pretty psyched for this.
|
| |
Single was ehhh idk never been able to get into these guys masisvely but it was just okay
|
| |
It's time fam
|
| |
Colors is ass. I'm sure Sputnik will eat this up too tho
|
| |
I eat ass
|
| |
clown metal lmao
|
| |
Circus-core
|
| |
the thing is if something is consistently all over the place it can still end up boring. If every song has strange breakdowns in it with unusual instrumentation, etc. for an entire album it all just blurs together. That's why these guys fail hard most of the time. You need some sort of solid base structure, then you can bend that structure and play around with it. But if it's all novelty, that's just fluff really.
|
| |
If no one heard of these guys and you got the first whiff of this shit you'd nut your pants and 5 the fuck out of this and blister your fingers to write the first review and be the chosen one who heard it first
|
| |
I liked the second half of the single when they started getting heavy and groovy. Hoping for more of that bouncy mosh metal that colors had
|
| |
Ι don't know what accounts as creativity. It all boils down to whether one finds the pastiche of ideas in music as creative or not.
|
| |
That is subjective
|
| |
“I liked the second half of the single when they started getting heavy and groovy. Hoping for more of that bouncy mosh metal that colors had” [2]
Yeah, the last 2 mins are worth the price of admission here
|
| |
This definitely sounds WAY more like a mix of Parallax and The Great Misdirect.
Makes sense since they're touring for The Great Misdirect right now. But still, this is kind of what I expected. I wouldn't have expected them actually making another album that has all the qualities of Colors.
The part at 3:00 is the first part that actually reminded me of Colors.
Then it's back to a Parallax-type riff at 3:30!
3:47 sounds new so I'm cool with that. Transitions up to 4:20 sound like Colors... Then it sounds like a mix of riffs from Extremophile Elite and Melting City... Then the outro sounds just like the outro from Extremophile...
I'm not saying it's bad, but they're a bit comfortably settled into their niche.
|
| |
The "single" obviously sits somewhere in the middle of the record. Let's wait and see how it plays out, but personally I want that heavy bouncy slam btbam that colors showcases
|
| |
New song doesn't need to be heard again. The vocals in particular are terrible.
|
| |
they’ve always been not good
like
throughout their whole career
|
| |
I still enjoy Colours and TGM as a whole, and some riffs and solos on the earlier albums. I've never bothered with anything after TGM
|
| |
Judging by how Zombie 2 went this will probably also get people excited
|
| |
"vocals are terrible"
Same vocals he's been doing for albums now. Get with it or kick rocks!
|
| |
New song is gimmicky but still pretty decent. Looking forward to this with high hopes.
|
| |
"Same vocals he's been doing for albums now. Get with it or kick rocks!"
They sounded especially terrible here for some reason. Even though the song was compositionally a mess, some clean vocals mixed in would have done it wonders. There's some parts with the growled vocals that don't match the music at all.
|
| |
it's seems like a cash grab
|
| |
^ I agree if only for the fact that they haven't toured in a year and a half and are probably struggling pretty hard right now for cash.
|
| |
yeah absolutely reeks of a cash grab
|
| |
Song does not bode well for the record lol...
|
| |
Looking forward to this for sure, their live stream of Automata 1 and 2 were highlights of quarantine for me.
|
| |
anyone calling the title a cash grab apparently has never tried to promote an album. if you can sell more albums right off the bat by titling it some particular brand-related thing that isn't completely cringeworthy or scandalous, you'd be stupid not to.
|
| |
Every album being released with a price tag is a cash grab
That said, this will be a rock solid 2.5/5
|
| |
Every time I see this in my recent discussions I still think it’s a meme article
|
| |
worst track ever this band is a meme and are officially the new Dream T heater
|
| |
