Yet another great song, most consistently great DM out there
| |
Their album art is always so dope
| |
Though formulaic, this band always delivers...
| |
Song's pretty good, 10/10 chops, but my enjoyment is like a 6/10. I really dug Nightbringers though, so i'm curious to hear the whole thing.
| |
Might as well just change the filter on their last cover art and pitch shift their songs tbh
| |
Lol I agree they seem to release the same album every time, but I'll be danged if it ain't a good one. I'm looking forward to it
| |
How many times are they going to write the same song? The galloping melodic death metal riffing is just tiresome. They are more than ripe for a bit of experimentation.
| |
Don’t think I’ve actually listened to then since everblack but I also don’t feel like I’ve missed out on much lmao
| |
The production felt a little more polished than I've heard from these guys. I might like this more than anything on Nightbringers.
| |
You haven't. They've just nailed this singular sound consistently and gotten extremely good at it but I don't see them ever changing it up too much.
| |
This fuckin rules, whether it sounds like the last 4 albums or not.
| |
"whether it sounds like the last 4 albums or not."
*the entirety of the bands career
ftfy
| |
You can argue their music is repetitive, but fuck does it rule. They do not disappoint.
| |
its boring as hell lol
| |
very uninteresting. Not sure how people still cling to this band.
| |
I like their style and everything, but I just have no interest in keeping up with their stuff anymore. Same album over and over. I mostly stick to Nocturnal and Everblack
| |
Absolutely love it! Trevor even said this album will have some curveballs, but even if the album was or is more of the same I will still love it to death, they can no wrong for me.
| |
Same ol same ol eh?
| |
ride/bell/splash groove at the start was v cool, decapitated vibes. Rest of the song is same old though, great song but
| |
the time has come
| |
I liked TBDM a lot in my metal days. Song rips.
| |
I used to love this band but I haven't listened to any of their records since Ritual. Will jam this single later, though.
| |
These guys are the true defenders of the faith that Slayer pretends to be.
| |
its boring as hell lol
[2]
| |
yup it's another TBDM song. I guess didn't really expect much else
intro was cool though
| |
Another solid track by TBDM. They're not reinventing anything, nor they have to; they have their established recognizable sound and it works perfectly. They do one thing, and IMO they do it better than anyone else. And they're always so much fun to listen to, you can tell they're always having a blast. Those things alone make them one of my favorite bands and make me have a lot of respect for them.
| |
Can we all agree though that all their songs are 3 to 4 minutes in order to get some sort of radio play lol, it's one of the few DM bands that I've seen use that tactic, and more power to them really
| |
tbdm doing what tbdm does best. Delivering kick ass dm as usual. Interested to see what they'll bring up with this record since it seems they tried some new things on this one, referring to what trevor said.
| |
If it ain't broke don't fix it. These guys perfected a formula that works. That kind of consistency is legendary. Whenever the band ends (in 10+ albums, when their livers finally give out, but not after a continuous streak of rad death metal) they'll have been confirmed as legendary death metal.
| |
"its boring as hell lol" [6]
| |
All valid points made here, but they are in a prime position in their career to experiment and not lose their fan base, with great potential to (re)gain more of those that haven't liked their current sound.
| |
Eh. These guys are great but their sound is well beyond stale at this point. Ritual was the last time I was REALLY into them, I have lost interest with each passing record since then. It's all just too samey, regardless of how well executed it is.
| |
I haven't even checked anything since Everblack, and I haven't missed much is what I'm gathering
Everblack goes in tho
| |
good song, trevor sounds awesome. also nightbringers is top 3 bdm and you’re doing yourself a massive disservice by skipping it
| |
It's a blessing these guys keep their songs short. If they were all 5+ minutes i would be in the other camp talking shit lol
| |
Song is meh as fuck. These guys are cool and all, but man they sound so stale now. I can't handle another album of the same 10 melodeath tracks I've already heard a million times
| |
Wish they'd try and switch things up a bit
| |
TBDM is the Coca Cola of Death Metal.
| |
i love coca cola
| |
I also love Coca Cola. It's a soft drink staple and always pleasing whenever I get it, and despite it being bad for me, I will always love it.
| |
Man this is safe
| |
When are they going to do something as cool as Ritual again
| |
honestly Nightbringers is even better than Ritual
| |
No way! Ritual is their best imo
| |
Would I like this band? (hard to tell I know, correct answer gets an imaginary cookie).
| |
No.
| |
my top 3 TBDM would be 1) Nocturnal 2) Nightbringers 3) Ritual
| |
Would I like this band? (hard to tell I know, correct answer gets an imaginary cookie). [2]
well, each of their albums is a 30 min. long affair, so you can just give 'em a spin
| |
I like melodic black metal, but this is more blackened melo-death... right?
Edit: Ah maybe not, probably getting them mixed up with another band.
| |
There is zero black metal in this. It's just melodeath.
| |
I only like HARD melodeath - to pick the most obvious of examples then more Heartwork less Whoracle. Curious anyway.
| |
These guys basically worship Slaughter of the Soul. Strange, considering the first two At the Gates albums are clearly superior.
| |
But don't be put off by what I just said. I'd take their best four albums over Slaughter any fucking day.
| |
On one hand I'm trying to follow your advice and not be 'put off' but on the other you just named the most vanilla example of melodeath as their worship piece, which is undoubtedly having that effect, lol.
| |
Listen to Nocturnal. It's got tons of great riffs. If you don't like it, don't bother with the rest.
Yeah, Slaughter of the Soul is like the prime example of a generic riff-fest worshipped by silly boomer metalheads. Why certain people put in in the same category as classic melodeath releases like, say, The Gallery is just beyond me.
| |
Fair enough, yeah I wouldn't exactly say The Gallery is a 'go-to' jam of mine, but it's miles better than Slaughter.
Good to see you back anyway Pika, occasionally you have some useful info (when you're not trolling Tool threads et al.)
| |
Yes, Tool shitposting never gets old. What's your go-to classical melodeath album then ;)
| |
Boring answer: Heartwork
Less boring answer: Day Into Night (which worships Heartwork somewhat anyway, lol).
I disagree though, Tool shitposting DOES/DID get old. I haven't viewed that thread in a while, think I'm cured.
| |
It's because fun people like you left, you heathen.
| |
any TBDM is at the very least a really good time, and for the album lengths it is def worth a spin, Nocturnal is top agreed
| |
Unrelated but they dropped like a 5 minute grind LP a few years ago and it’s amazing.
