Hard to think of many more significant rock bands from the 21st century - at least the first decade. They were an absolute phenomenon, peak saturation was when news broadcasters started airing pieces aimed at concerned parents about how to handle your child 'turning emo'. But despite the hysteria they always nailed the tongue-in-cheek theatrics and were so tight and high energy. Can't wait to see more from them.
| |
i saw billy talent open for these guys and i have to say they were farrrr better than mcr. mcr suffers from the vocals being wayyyy too drowned out by the music. that shit has ruined so many live bands for me.
| |
MCR live is transcendental I don't care how astute or well founded your criticisms are Gyro, that's a holy cow you don't fuck with
Even if this ends up as another Danger Days news is dope
| |
idk man, i've had other friends see them live, as well as checked out some live performance and the sound design has always been so shit. the mixing is just so bad. all the instrumentation is there and it's great but the vocals are practically inaudible
| |
This is the best day of my life lmao
Fuck

OK top MCR songs list incoming
| |
actually I just realized I only like 2 of their albums, I just happened to LOVE them, so someone else should make the list posthaste
| |
Last album was garbage though
| |
Yeah, but Conventional Weapons was p sweet
| |
@Gyro fair fair, I guess fanboyism > sound design in some cases (though that said I've seen some of my favourite groups live and have been majorly underwhelmed as a result of sound design hmm)
| |
This is awesome, highkey hoping more dates get announced or some new jams
| |
WHERE THE FUCK IS MY EYELINER

lmfao Pitchfork making an article about this
back in 2010 if you asked them to review Danger Days they probably would've sent you anthrax spores in the mail

With the amount of bizarre news happenings this month i'm convinced CM Punk is about to return to pro wrestling
| |
I DONT LOVE YOU, LIKE I DID YESTERDAAAAAYYYYY
| |
Are they gonna do more than 1 concert? If that's all then I dont care
| |
I remember when I was swiping my laptop while practicing guitar, I literally dropped my pick when I saw the news, along with my jaw. I am a little mixed despite the surprise though, since I worried whether can they recapture that fiery glory of their early days, but hey I am still happy that they are back!
| |
Is this sicker news than emmure reuniting? Discuss
| |
my facebook feed is not okay
| |
kevin smith says he's the one who got gerard back into music so everyone go see clerks 3 when it comes out. and sit through the whole thing too
| |
Not the best news, now my wife may 'force' (well, guilt trip perhaps) me to go and see them... presuming they will eventually expand this to the UK.
| |
i legitimately am excited
| |
Love the random Boy Division love bumpin in here. I remember jamming that in my car at full volume after breaking up with an ex.
| |
MCR for Coachella headliner 2020
| |
Everybody talking about their best song but no one has mentioned Mama? Disgraceful
| |
House of Wolves
| |
y'all, Cubicles is their best. or Give Em Hell Kid
| |
Never got into this band that much, as long as it's not danger days again I'm sure it'll be fine.
| |
So y'all are sayin they are good live? If they do a tour I'll definitely be sure to go.
Fact A) Three Cheers is their best album
Fact B) This Is How I Disappear is their best song though.
*Facts not actually facts

Gonna join the hype in posting unintentionally funny live videos

@botb that reminded me of this unintentionally hilarious video

Good find!

Even though what I'm about to say is somewhat from a biased perspective; I dont think post-hardcore really needs another MCR. I've been enjoying the direction that some of these post hardcore bands have gone in recent years (Glassjaw, Thrice, Soasion,Circa Survive, ..even State Faults) I'm just personally turned off by the eyeliner, self-mutilating gimmicky side of it. Like I said-I'm a bit biased though, even during the mid-00's I couldnt stand MCR, The Used, and Hawthorne Heights. I like post hardcore now because it feels like a bit of a progression from what was going on in the early 00's
| |
They're not post hardcore ... MCR is more akin to FOB and Panic! than Thrice, Saosin and Circa.
| |
Idk, MCR had some post-hardcore influence early on. Their first album is mostly post-hardcore (just listen to Skylines and Turnstiles, Honey this Mirror, Drowning Lessons, etc.) and their second album was like a blend of post-hardcore and pop punk. Their most popular songs always leaned more towards pop punk/pop rock though, and they basically abandoned most of their post-hardcore stuff after three cheers. Fall Out Boy is a decent comparison, but I would say they have more in common with Thrice and Saosin than Panic! at the Disco.
| |
first album def had a post hardcore sound
| |
second too
| |
Sure their old stuff definitely had more in line with thrice and saosin than panic, but when they were on their way out they had much more in common with FOB, Panic, AFI or the likes (you know the emo-pop/hot topic shirt scene).
My point is that no one has to worry about MCR diluting or redirecting the post-hardcore scene ... they just are no longer a part of it.
| |
ah yea theyre def removed from it now
| |
And to be honest, I hope to see a new emo-pop scene rise from the ashes with their return and pass the fun onto the next generation :-)
| |
shoutouts to Demolition Lovers for still being a pretty damn good song.
| |
That's easily one of their best songs
| |
They can fuck off for asking 1k for a ticket. That's just exploitative.

Fuckin A, are you serious? A little of themselves if so lol.

Clowns will pay
| |
Idk why they thought one show would be enough considering their christ like level of popularity in the emo scene. That just makes it ripe of ticket sale abuse from scalpers and ticket sites
| |
^
| |
OMG ratm and mcr! mb rock music is not kill?
| |
yeah im thinking rock is back
| |
why are people acknowledging this
| |
Tickets are $150, these are probably resale or something. Also, I think they're just doing one show for now. I've heard insiders say that they're planning more.
Sure their old stuff definitely had more in line with thrice and saosin than panic, but when they were on their way out they had much more in common with FOB, Panic, AFI or the likes (you know the emo-pop/hot topic shirt scene).
Okay but AFI has more in common with Saosin and Thrice than FOB or Panic (at least imo). I get the point you're trying to make though.
| |
Early sunsets over monroeville is a classic as well. I enjoy the more melodic melancholic stuff from I brought you bullets overall but it feels way differnt than the melodic stuff from three cheers.
| |
wack ass band
| |
this made my entire year omg
