what a trainwreck of a person
| |
your mom?
| |
Be well soon, Papa Het.
| |
I had an addition problem in high school.
| |
I guess James is just hardwired to self-destruct.
| |
Not going to lie, was legit looking forward to this concert. Had to book the time off in April.
| |
wow, this actually made me sad. god damn it James
| |
Seems drastic, could have just got a calculator
| |
The name of that Rehab place? Light
| |
Guess his problems were greater than the sum of their parts.
Hope he gets the best of it
| |
Man it's a shame, remember him saying he was straight edge for a while and never wanted to look back...
Also lol at that typo man.
| |
my brother wanted to go to their concert, bummer
...also bummer for the guy too. hope he can recover
| |
They tried to make him go to rehab and Het said, "YEEAAHH!"
In all seriousness though, I'm glad he's getting the help he needs.
| |
“Metallica revealed that James Hetfield has just re-entered rehab to overcome an addition problem.“
Damn me too nothing ever adds up
| |
lmao i just saw it
| |
So bummed they postponed the Tour. Was so keen to see them with Slipknot.
But his health comes first, hopefully he’ll pull through and beat his addiction m/
We’ll be waiting for him 🤘🏻🇦🇺
| |
that's sad he was doing so well also with not drinking. it has to be drinking, he never was addicted to anything else in that way. did anyone watch his Joe Rogan conversation? Seeing this sucks after hearing what he said in that interview. He really seemed like he was thinking clearly. He hasn't drank in what like over a decade?
| |
Me and 6 of my friends were so keen for this. Bought tickets for the Sydney show soon as they went on sale and was counting down the days. Hope Hetfield sorts himself out and they can come down here soon.
| |
That was unexpected.
| |
having to play in a band with Lars for 30 years would make anyone an alcoholic. XDDDDD
| |
ST. ANGER PART TWO INCOMING
PURIFY YOU AND I PURIFYYYYY CAN YOU HELP ME PURIFYYYIYIYYYY
| |
If only he had followed the advice of that one wanker from Some Kind of Monster, the therapist who tried to co-write some songs with them.
| |
hey everyone. don't be a dick about this. thanks!
| |
Really bummed to hear this. You just assume people are doing well after all these years....
| |
When they were drunk they were making great music, so keep drinking, I say.
| |
The average age of Sputnik users really shows sometimes. Appears to be about 15.
| |
#YOLO420
| |
“The average age of Sputnik users really shows sometimes. Appears to be about 15.“
Ya I know he’s never gonna see these comments but have a little decency guys
| |
So much for straight edge James.
| |
it always really bums me out to hear stuff like this. hope he recovers
| |
Good luck to him, although he should probably think about retiring at this stage of his life. Touring life isn't easy for a recovering addict.
| |
It's never okay to make fun of someone for having math problems. Show some respect guys.
| |
Damn math, all those equations and variables and shit. How many lives must integers ruin?!
| |
Awe someone edited out the typo that's honestly the saddest news itt
| |
Sputnik edgelords come out to play
| |
Even if James is rich and can afford help and will never read these comments, no doubt there are at least a few people on the site who struggle with addiction of some kind. Kinda sucks to see people making light of life-ruining shit. I'm not offended, just think it's kinda a dick move.
| |
Because humour is a perfectly healthy coping mechanism for many people
| |
You can bet a big portion of the people making jokes have had their own struggles with addiction and that's perfectly fine.
| |
I almost never post here anymore, I don't have much to add to the tenor of this thread that hasn't already been said, and really it's Sputnik so what's the point?––BUT––having witnessed firsthand the way alcohol addiction can thunderfuck a human being to the core, I hope some of you will have a bit more compassion if/when alcoholism impacts the life of someone you know and love.
Edit: But yeah, joking's cool, and I get it. Just wanted to throw in my perspective as I procrastinate on shit.
| |
It's funny actually, I find when it comes to the internet when people make controvertial jokes or joke about serious stuff in general the most vocal humour police are often the people who have absolutely no experiance with the subject matter and the people cracking the jokes are often people who have been personally affected by the topic
| |
Honestly I've spent a good half of my life being die hard addicted to multiple things and being surrounded by people that are as well and back when I was at it my peers and I would definitely crack constant jokes about it. I make it a rule to not down people I don't know for it though
| |
best of luck james. get well soon
| |
@combust that's fair. For anyone who is butthurt about the math jokes tho they can fuck right off as those are jokes about the news posters original TYPO and not about the news itself
| |
I'm definitely not butthurt about anything just threw my two cents in. Only read the last 5 comments tbh. I got thick ass skin really. Pretty hard to get my bum throbbing lol
| |
Potsy––the math jokes are fine, even nuanced, whatever, I didn't even catch that there'd been a typo until halfway through the thread. To play devil's advocate though, I wonder if telling people to fuck off who *might* be offended by users picking low-hanging fruit for a lol isn't kinda mean-spirited? Not to say some folks couldn't do with some chilling out or time away from the internet. But I can also see how it might be frustrating to other users to see people exploiting a typo because they can.
| |
Haha, well, whatever. I thought the typo was funny and worthy of a razzing or two. The addiction jokes, less so as there is a fine line between a clever joke and a mean-spirited comment, but at the same time I'm mostly just playing the devils advocate myself as I think the idea that certain topics are off-limits for humour is silly. Depends on if the joke is any good or not!
| |
Word. That makes sense, and I pretty much agree. Thanks for playing ball tho : )
| |
No problem I love balls
| |
Anyone paying 100 dollar plus to watch Metallica deserve to be sad
| |
Ball love making the world go round!
| |
small town giiiiiiiiiiiiiiirl
| |
For real though this is so sad. I hope he makes a full recovery to carry on shooting animals in the face with a gun
| |
Wasn’t Hetfield Straight Edge?
| |
I think he's addicted to poon
| |
Shit! I saw them at Slane castle earlier this year and he seemed like a million bucks. Hope he gets better.
| |
How is Metallica live these days? What was the set like? My aunt once walked up to me telling me how her work offered her 3 free Metallica tickets but she declined not knowing if I liked them. I stood looking like a disappointed preteen rocking my And Justice for All shirt
| |
Hey I no that their name from the facebooks
| |
I did see the Joe Rogan thing and was also shocked to hear about this - I thought he seemed so well-adjusted from all the therapy and sobriety.
I'm sure he'll pull it together - I guess you're never out of the woods with alcoholism.
| |
That's what he gets for making fun of Layne's heroin problem.
| |
Where'd he make fun of the heroin problem at? Heroin is blowing up here right now. Shit is sad. Got lifelong friends looking like walking corpses
| |
What's doing heroin have to do with being prescribed heavy duty opiates? None of the people here are prescribed anything if anything people are switching over to heroin because the cutbacks on the old ladies getting prescribed opiates they were selling. Also suboxone is stupid and still gets you high and costs more. I could rant further with the troll account but I'm just gonna drop that knowledge bomb and get back to mopping this floor. BLAHDAHDAH
| |
Well the problem here isn't being prescribed the opiates at least not in any case I've seen. They're not giving anyone under the age of 30 shit here. I was doing opiates and selling them for a good 12 years and it's all just old ladies selling their pills to pay for their cancer treatments that grew into the problem we've got. I started when my mom had stockpiles she refused to take with going through cancer but none of the addicts I know ever had a script. But yeah the whole epidemic was strategic and they just made suboxone to double down on profit they were missing from the streets. Agreed on that
| |
Opium is what people need. Shit should be prescribed here in Britain.
| |
I wouldn't assume this is his alcoholism coming back up. A lot of recovering addicts will replace their addiction with something else, often without realizing it.Could be any number of other drugs, sex, etc.
| |
I've never done straight opium. People try to sell opium here but it's normally just crushed up dragonsblood inscence. Guess that's been a big thing for awhile. Alcohol was easy to get off for me but I got a few friends that literally drink themselves to a stupor before 10 am everyday. Glad I'm out of all of that
| |
Smoked some in Cambodia, was great.
Also did some tourusty opium pizz and coffee and some smeared on a smoke.
The floated on a ring down the mekong.
Good times
