Ameircan Christian progressive metalcore band Silent Planet have now officially released a new single, entitled 'Northern Fires (Guernica)'. However, there is currently no announcement of a new album in the coming future, though one is expected later this year. Their previous album, Everything Was Sound was released in 2016.

This band does it right. Garrett is one hell of a vocalist.

Pretty cool lyrics referencing the Spanish Civil War, which was a precursor to the Second World War. Not a very common topic for a metalcore band.

Great metalcore and obscure lyrical topics, Silent Planet have mastered both.

The flow of the harsh vocals is so cool, could be an awesome rap track. Do agree though, the cleans don't add anything at all

Cleans kinda ruin it for me , I usually like his cleans but not so much on this track. Rest of the song is gnarly though , Garrett always kills it.

Saw this band live, they were terribly out of place with the lineup and the fans were toxic. Absolutely awful performance and the guitarist looked incredibly bored. I don't know why people are so high on this band.

Not really feeling that song as a whole, but that video was sweet as hell.

Both this and the second bury tomorrow single seem to have cleans that ruin both songs.

This sound has been done to death. Might have been a cool song if it came out in 2012.

That's just his usual delivery, he's very start stoppy with his screams. He doesn't rap lmao, you're just unfamiliar with his style it seems

This is kinda different for them, much more "djenty" I guess rather than an Underoath/Oh Sleeper bite

I think there are definitely rap influences in the way he delivers his vocals. Just because something is gruff doesn't mean it has to be strictly metal. Take the band Archspire for example. The vocalist has basically admitted to being a death metal Tech N9ne.

I mean I can hear influences for sure, but I still wouldn't call it rapping. It's always been more of a weak shout (Maybe spoken word?) to me, which he uses as a bridge to the screams and lows

butt.

Never liked their cleans on record, and live they are atrocious. They're so fucking screechy in person, it's a real nasty assault on the ears.

Song is whatever. I liked the style they had on their first record way more than anything they've done since. Gimme that big atmosphere.

How can people seriously think metalcore sounds good with these type of cleans? So whiny and have no passion, they're always thrown in as garbage filler. Outside of that too the harsh vocals are equally as awful. It sounds like he's rapping the lyrics and the guitar work is standard generic work as usual. Not good at all
