Glenn Tipton Stops Touring 2018-02-13 by Nagrarok | 15 Comments | Judas Priest have revealed that guitarist Glenn Tipton will be unable to continue touring full-time. Tipton, one of the band's core members since their first album Rocka Rolla, was diagnosed with the early stages of Parkinson's disease ten years ago, but has up to this point continued to tour with the band. However, as his condition progressed, some of their material has become too challenging for him to play. Tipton will still remain a member of the band in a different capacity, which hasn't ruled out future appearances with him on stage. He has requested producer Andy Sneap to step in as a replacement.
Tipton's playing can also still be heard on Priest's upcoming 18th studio album Firepower, which is due to be released on March 9th.

Damn, that's a shame
| | | This sucks, wish him all the best.
| | | Very sad... Hope they still take him on stage if he wants to.
Mr. Big does so with their (ex) drummer Pat Torpey, he also has Parkinson's disease. It's awesome to see him still as part of the band and I'm sure it's only favorable for his condition and slows the progression of the disease.
| | | Pat Torpey actually passed way just last week
| | | Such a shame. I think this time the album will actually be their last. Can't see another afterwards.
| | | "Pat Torpey actually passed way just last week"
Didn't know that :-[ Oh man, this is so sad... Saw him some months ago on stage and he seemed so happy...
| | | Pretty shocked right now...
| | | One of the greatest rock guitarists of all time. Can't imagine where power metal and, in general, all of metal would be right now without his grandiose, soaring melodies and ultra melodic solos. A real shame.
| | | I'm surprised there was no news article on Torpey's passing on Sput. Then again, only about 5 people care about Mr. Big, so...
| | | just about every disease you come down with when you get older is fuckin terrifying
| | | Yeah, this is sad.
| | | Can't imagine this was an easy call to make for him. Priest have been going for so long with an impressively stable line-up that to step down like this must take a toll on him, and that's on top of the cancer itself. Really unfortunate. Wishing him the best.
| | | JP without Halford, KK, or Tipton is just not the same band. They should call it quits afterwards. I know they won't do it because of their pride, however, one thing is for certain: you cannot beat time.
| | | It was inevitable, unfortunately. I was lucky enough to see KK and Glenn live several times.
| | | I learned this way late.
Terrible news. Band is on its last days.
