Soundgarden release new song

Seattle grunge band Soundgarden have released a new song, entitled 'Storm'. It's been speculated to be a re-
recording of their unreleased 80s demo of the same name.

Guitarist Kim Thayil was quoted as saying: "We haven’t really confirmed how it’ll be used, but it’ll probably end up on a compilation of some sort, and I’d imagine that would then be included on a B-sides album".

The instrumentation is pretty great, but wow Cornell is really losing his voice. I guess age will do that.

I really dig it. It's weird, the guitars are heavy in a non obvious way. I didn't even notice that it was an older song until I read the article. It definitely has more of out there vibe compared to King Animal, and the production is a lot warmer.

Jeez, Chris's voice sounds so strained.

Might just be this song with the strained vocals, but if his voice is weakening its no surprise his vocals always sounded difficult to do.

I saw them live a month or so after this was recorded, and there's no way Chris is losing his voice.

Personally I think the track's great. Could've used a bit more oomph in the outro but I dig it

Cool stuff. Chris's voice definitely has weakened, but if you were 50 years old and still belting out songs like Slaves and Bulldozers live, your voice would be pretty shot too... For his age I say he's doing pretty good

Cornell's vocals don't sound strained (at least nowhere near to the degree as on the first Audioslave album). He's singing in a lower register, and doing it well.

not too bad at all, music is pretty tight, vocals are good as long as he stays in that low register
