They've gone back to that Undertow knockoff sound for the first single so I'm pumped.

I hear a bit of Maynard in the vocal style in the single sample. Its not a bad track, it sounds pretty good, will probably take multiple listens for me to be able to formulate an opinion of it.
Know what would be absolutely fucking awesome?
Know how QOTSA's 'Like Clockwork' was last years hands down best alt rock album and an absolute work of art? Would absolutely love to see that happen here, just a thoroughly solid, well crafted alt rock album, polished to absolute perfection as "...Like Clockwork" was.

I'm surprised with all the musical phases I've gone through I'll still listen to Chevelle. Hopefully new album is good, last one was just alright.

Maybe they brought out their inner Tool influences

The lead single sounds like radio friendly 'Tool' and I am okay with that. I think the world needs more bands like 'Tool' as they certainly don't release material with any real haste. What I like most about the lead single is just how alive they sound and I don't think they've sounded like that since 'This Type of Thinking..' Good stuff overall.

To the comment above, no no no the world does not need more Tool or bands as lame as this. Wonder What's Next will always be my swansong to Chevelle.

Gonna disagree with you there, Wiz. Band is really consistent and they have the ability to craft some really catchy rock tunes.
