Velvet Revolver Cover Van Halen 2007-03-15 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 7 Comments | At Monday night's Rock And Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Velvet Revolver paid tribute to an absent Van Halen by performing two of the band's well-known hits, the David Lee Roth-era track 'Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love' and the Sammy Hagar-era tune 'Runaround.'
The reformed group's showcase was due to come at tonight's ceremony, but guitarist Eddie Van Halen has chosen to enter rehab, while Roth opted not to perform or attend in protest. Roth was offered the opportunity to sing the group consisting of former Guns N' Roses and Stone Temple Pilots members, but here the inconsistencies begin.
Show organisers insist Roth was offered the opportunity to perform with either the house band or Velvet Revolver. Roth insists he was only offered the Velvet Revolver spot and could only sing 'You Really Got Me,' a Kinks original, whereas Roth wanted to perform 'Jump.'
