Metallica Post New Clip 2007-01-26 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 22 Comments |
Having opened with the track for almost a quarter-century, Metallica have finally gotten around to recording a version of Ennio Morricone's classic piece 'The Ecstasy of Gold' for an upcoming tribute to the legendary film composer.
We All Love Ennio Morricone is an attempt by members of the rock, pop and film worlds to honour the 78 year-old composer, and includes contributions from Metallica, Bruce Springsteen, Celine Dion, Quincy Jones and Herbie Hancock.
'The Ecstasy of Gold' was first featured in the film The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, which starred Clint Eastwood, and has long been overshadowed by the movie's more famous theme song, also composed by Morricone, and performed here by Jones and Hancock.
"I have been inspired by Morricone's raw unbridled emotion, especially in his western scores," said James Hetfield. "As a band, we have used his moving 'Ecstasy of Gold' piece as an intro to our performances since 1983."

We Love Ennio Morricone is due for release on February 20 via Sony Classical.

I watched the clip of them performing in june of last year. It was so bad. I'm not gonna bother with this.
The song was 10 minutes long. What the fuck.
|
| |
lol, im going to listen to this again and listen for the "eh-ehh... eh-eh's"
|
| |
hey-eh!
|
| |
I actually thought that was kinda cool.
I hope that's what the production sounds like on the new album.
|
| |
Yeah, the eh-ehs are so worth listening to
|
| |
It's funny 'cos it sounded exactly how I expected it to.
Which is nothing special.
The S&M version's where the moneys at :thumb:

/prepares for mm8's jizzing over this album.
That sample kind of leads me to believe then new metallica will suck.
|

not that bad but without the orchestra it's not nearly as good as the original from the good, the bad, the ugly.
|
| |
Instrumentally solid. Hard to judge the vocals because they were difficult to hear.
|
| |
He wasn't saying anything.
|
| |
This is okay. In their case I think it's much better left as a simple intro piece rather than a full-blown instrumental song.
|
| |
better than anything you'd hear on St. Anger

oh come on lets cut the crap-this needs to be said: that wasnt very good at all. So lets just stop pretending it was alright or okay...it wasnt that good...we all know it....lets all admit it.
|
| |
Thought it was decent.

It was good, but i didnt hear any vocals

| |
hmm...i thought it was terrible and the hey eh eh ehhs were corny. maybe you liekd it...but metallica keeps going down and down in my book.

I like the track, but Metallica needs to just stop making music. The music was great but James Hetfield sucks balls now.
|
| |
I thought the whole thing was meh.
