Rubin New Linkin Park Producer

2006-02-09 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 11 Comments
Linkin Park DJ Joseph Hahn in a posting on the group's official website confirmed that legendary producer Rick Rubin will produce the band's new album, their first since 2003's 'Meteora.'

"Right now we're in the experimental phase of the writing process for our new record. There is no solid direction yet, we're trying to be as eclectic as we can for the moment and then we'll see what stands out the most out of all the music we write, which will give us more of an identity to strive for.

"We wanted to step it up as far as working with a producer and really try to create an atmosphere that will challenge us in different ways. We chose Rick Rubin because his credits alone speak a lot about his ability and his open-mindedness as a producer, working on everything from the old Def Jam, Beastie Boys and Run DMC, to Slayer, Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I think the common denominator with all these groups is that they create great music through the years that has stood the test of time."

Rubin most recently produced System of a Down's 'Mezmerize' and 'Hypnotize' double-set, and will have a hand in the forthcoming Red Hot Chili Peppers and Justin Timberlake LPs.

rubin has a habit of pushing a band/artist into new areas.
if you want to go big and show people what you got than he is the man...

now what linkin park will do with it is up to them...

sometimes people can surprise you...

we'll see.This Message Edited On 02.09.06

I really hope Rubin encourages more innovation. I love HT but Meteora was such a disappointment. Perhaps this will be LP's salvation. I'm not getting my hopes up, hehe.

I thought, for one heavenly moment, that Linkin Park had vanished off of the music scene.

Guh.

I'm Just gonna ask, why is nearly everyone on sites like this, most likely a sad little person who sits in front of his computer all day slaggin people who actually are on these sites to read about there favourite bands, and maybe some more people will be like yeh i love them to but noo! Use are ***!

And most likely one of these people will complain about my grammar or something.
