Declines in the music genre? I always thought this franchise was one of the current favourites.
|
| |
this sucks... i liked Guitar Hero better than Rock Band...
|
| |
I've been an avid player since the first game, and I'd have to say it's about time this happened. As much as i love these
games, they can only make them for so long.
|
| |
Decline in the music genre is bs. If they made another one it'd be a huge hit, again.
|
| |
fucking finally. last good one was GH3
so good
|
| |
Rock Band is much better, and the "decline" is because they pumped out so damn many games.
|
| |
or maybe its just that these games are a total gimmick and that now the novelty has worn off people don't care enough and they don't want it to just end up being shovelware and are killing it with dignity.
|
| |
What redsky said but also glad they made that stab at the music industry in the last paragraph. Greedy cunts
|
| |
i haven't played one of these games in a few years since i picked up the guitar for real. about time they stopped making these. they where fun for a while but the gimmick wore off quickly.
|
| |
It was a rather lame pun tbh.
I understand why they stopped it if instruments were the main profit-maker.
|
| |
I did but I just got on.
|
| |
Aren't all puns lame :P
|
| |
i'm cool with this i guess
|
| |
the first three were great. then they started with the "let's see how many spin-offs we can put out and still make people buy our shit." this should have happened a year ago.
|
| |
Also disgusted nobody picked up on my puntastic headline.
Activision axes Guitar Hero
brb gonna get some rotten tomatoes.
|
| |
Finally. The only good one was 2.
|
| |
rock band is so much better anyways who cares about guitar queero
|
| |
i tried doing a cool guitar flip with my old guitar hero guitar.. the strap fell off and it smashed into a wall.
it was the most fun had with it
|
| |
After World Tour, there wasn't really a need to rerelease the game. Just put it all in as downloadable content.
|
| |
wooooooooooooooooooooooow this is fucking mind blowing. series was fun but once rock band came, it was pretty much through.
|
| |
Just learn real guitar you lazy bastards
|
| |
I liked the pun.
But yeah if you're gonna play a music game, Rock Band is the way to go anyway.
|
| |
the lamest game ever invented other than those fake life ones
|
| |
activision rarely does anything with dignity but i support this
word, glad i dont have to see a hundred new versions of a game that used to be cool
rock band, guitar hero
it's all just bullshit that takes up way too much space in your room.
this too, my rock band drums are in my closet and i really should get that shit out of there.
always liked guitar aspect of guitar hero way better, but i didnt ever play past GH 3 or rock band 1.
|
| |
Kinda sucks. Was hoping for one that lives up to the greatness that was Guitar Hero: Metallica
|
| |
guitar hero is fucking stupid. best news ever. shoulda given up after #1
|
| |
thank god. pick up a real goddamn instrument.
|
| |
Ohh this is fantastic, really happy by this : D
|
| |
Rock Band is better.
|
| |
just because your a fan of guitar hero does not mean you don't play real instruments.
|
| |
probably focusing on call of duty too much.
|
| |
and fly their own chopper gunners and shit
|
| |
activisions motto: milk it until it cant be milked no more!
|
| |
last good one was GH3 [375472364]
Gh2/Gh3 > all rockband franchise though. the guitar isn't fun to play at all.
|
| |
eh glad they realized it was time to stop it. GH2 provided me with some fucking awesome memories. and 3 and WT are still fun to pick up from time to time
|
| |
GH II and III are the best ones of the genre to this day, but ever since rock band its been over for guitar hero. though i did play 5 and it was cool. i use the guitar from GH5 to play rock band 3 now. sigh.
|
| |
rock band > guitar hero
|
| |
Rip. Was a decent bit of fun.
|
| |
It also reignited my love for Barracuda by Heart.
|
| |
I have a friend named Ruger. I use the term "friend" loosely because he stalks me... somehow he knows everything about me and we don't even go to the same school anymore.
Anyway, he still spends all day in his basement trying to master every song on this. He's convinced that if he can do so, he'll get a girlfriend.
|
| |
Between the layoffs at Harmonix and now Guitar Hero getting axed, the world of peripheral-based rhythm games seems just about dead. Then again, I still play Rock Band on a near daily basis, so that's gotta count for something.
|
| |
oh good, now they can focus completely on sucking the life out of the call of duty franchise.
|
| |
Activision are scum, they just drive games into the ground and then fire everybody when the game starts losing steam.
I don't care for GH but they are doing the same shit to COD, but I doubt people will wake up and stop buying COD/shitty $15 mappacks anytime soon.
|
| |
Pretty sure that's Treyarch's job
|
| |
Treyarch basically is Activision.
|
| |
TREYARCH SUCKS NEED MOAR INFINITY WARD
|
| |
If by another developer you mean an indie one who doesn't care if the game will sell yeah
|
| |
About time, was kind've getting annoyed about how many versions/knock offs there were. Though I must say it was a good way to introduce people to music, myself included.
|
| |
Yes that means no more of that stupid ass DJ Hero either thank you!!
|
| |
GH: WoR wasn't too bad, but my only problem with this is no more DLC. Hopefully existing DLC will still be available.
|
| |
Rock Band 3 > Any other rhythm music game out there.
|
| |
I think Guitar Hero's biggest crime was making Through the Fire and Flames so popular
|
| |
It was a good run. Then the whoring started.
|
| |
was gonna say something along the lines of people learning real instruments, but that's already been said
|
| |
Now they just need to stop the Call of Duty franchise. Of course, it wont happen for years because the
series is in its prime (in sales at least).
|
| |
Bout' time.
|
| |
Warriors of Rock was good and the quest play was interesting.
Rock Band will continue the series/style in the right direction.
|
| |
NOOO

|
| |
this kinda sucks but oh well. rock band is better anyway because they have rock band network. i can
fucking play converge and devin townsend.
and i've been meaning to post this here for awhile. they are releasing all of townsend's ziltoid
album. so far the first track zto is the only one to come out and they redid it for rock band. it's
pretty damn funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjUkDkHfxuc
|
| |
GH3 owned so hard, the songs were fun but most of all it definitely had the smoothest gameplay, i have rock band too but it just feels so clunky and robotic compared to how guitar hero used to play
|
| |
It's about damn time.
|
| |
"Now they just need to stop the Call of Duty franchise. Of course, it wont happen for years because the
series is in its prime (in sales at least)."
Not too related but agree
|
| |
The music rhythm game genre is dying, but Rock Band has killed Guitar Hero. Only logical decision for them.
|
| |
Guitar Hero/Rock Band are the dumbest franchises ever.
Good for Activision to do this with dignity
|
| |
best news evar
|
| |
More time to focus on CoD and give us two or three per year instead of just only one!
|
| |
game was way past its prime
|
| |
"I think Guitar Hero's biggest crime was making Through the Fire and Flames so popular"
That was actually one of the best decisions they ever made. It brought them so much popularity. They got what they deserved though for milking.
|
| |
thank god
|
| |
Beatles Rock Band raped everything though guys.
|
| |
Wow
|
| |
it's about damn time
|
| |
News is huge.
|
| |
my little sister will be so disappointed
|
| |
About damn time. Series hasn't been good since Activision took over.
|
| |
Get so bored by this game, but this is definitely a smart move for Activision.
'The company's latest financial report to investors stated: "At the same time, due to continued declines in the music genre...'
this is true since 'rock'/'guitar' artists have had the least number of sales than ever before, yet those on the inside of the music industry are predicting a big comeback for rock groups in a few years, so Guitar Hero or one of its other clones will probably surface again in whatever form soon enough..
|
| |
actually I went to a convention about games/animation and saw a presentation from the guys who made DJ Hero who told us that GH6 and RB3 bombed sales wise. makes sense to me for them to axe it.
|
| |
I should probably play this some time.
Awww crap tooo late.
|
| |
Guitar Hero 1, 2, 80s, and 3 > every Rockband > ever GH after 3
Harmonix > Activision/Neversoft. Stick to Tony Hawk games, guys.
|
| |
When it comes to learning real instruments, GH can actually slightly help. I at least got better kick separation when playing it.
|
| |
way to go activision... milk it clean and then kick it to the curb... i still dig music games but i havent touched one in 6 months
|
| |
Such BS about the "continued declines in the music genre". I don't see how they could say that. People have just gotten tired of these games.
|
| |
not everybody has though.
|
| |
If you release six games a year this is what happens.
|
| |
What crowing said.
|
| |
Guitar Hero is a video game. Telling somebody to get their ass off Guitar Hero and learn a real instrument is the exact same thing as telling someone to get off any other video game and learn whatever the hell they want. Yes, you can put less time into video games and more time into something productive, but what would be the point of video games at all? There is none, aside from entertainment. We enjoy playing them, so leave it at that. Guitar and Guitar Hero are not equivalent.
Anyways, I thought Warriors of Rock was the best game to date, but I feel like they catered specifically to the expert players, which led to the bomb in sales.
|
| |
guitar hero went down the drain when activision bought the rights to it. harmonix is where it's at. hopefully rock band will do well now that there is basically no competition.
|
| |
GH 1 and 2 + Rock Band > Every other music game
|
| |
Oh no. Now they only have one cash cow to reproduce every year and sell for $60.
|
| |
Too busy making cash off releasing the same CoD game every year... yet people buy it. Idiots are feeding this horrible company...... Companies like activision need to die out. More like valve please.
|
| |
I personally think that the series could have continued to flourish if Guitar Hero had taken a more rock band like approach and released a game every few years, focusing on dlc and improvements to the genre. Guitar Hero dug its own grave with a shit ton of releases. Greedy Activision bastards. I also believe this same thing will happen with call of duty soon.
|
| |
Bit of a shame. I'd have liked to see a Pro mode in Guitar Hero since I prefer having more time to hit the notes.
|
| |
After the 3rd one,I gave a fuck for world tour cause it had 3 tool songs. The rest of the songs sucked.
|
| |
GH2 and GH3 were good.
|
| |
it seems like there's a new music game out every 6-8 months, but GH had a good run
|
| |
Actually:
$51> Harmonix>Rock Band=Guitar Hero
Harmonix was bought by Columbus Nova for $50 (debt and all). There probably won't be another Rock Band either.
|
| |
rip
|
| |
sup
