I think it will probably still sound outdated just because of the gear he was using when the album was made (and it has that typical TVT/Wax Trax sound of that era). He'd have to totally re-record the album to make it sound current.

Rerecording an album would be the worst thing any musician could do. I mean, he's a completely different person now.

There haven't been very good re-recordings, I agree. Look how Dave Mustaine messed up Rust in Peace on the parts he "fixed". Anacrusis' re-recordings are awesome, though.

Obviously it wont sound modern in any sense. Damn thing was recorded in the late 80's after all. I'm sure, having the masters handy, Reznor could use the talents he's developed since the recording of this album to polish it up a bit. The revised album art might be a sign of that. It looks tits.
I've been waiting all year for the anticipated Fragile re-release. Doubt that will happen before the year is over, though  . Hopefully early next year!
