Rather than have an argument about whether BMTH are scene/screamo or not, or what genre BMTH is, why don't we just ask Olly himself, if it is the real Olly Sykes of course. I quite like the song, but it's not heavy enough in my opinion for it to work. They have definately matured as songwriters though, and the synths are quite interesting. If these new aspects of their sound are used alongside some really brutal riffs, then the album could be pretty good. The vocals still need work though. Im not a huge fan of the shouting/yelling, but I love the high-pitched stuff and the growls.

All the shitty bands are getting kind of better in 2010 heh.

That wasn't as terrible as I was expecting, but it sounded extremely unrefined. Oli at least got slightly better with screaming, and the ambient sections were pretty cool. (Not the synth, god that part fucking sucked.

The fanboys and girls of this band are ridiculous, they think that everything BMTH release is pure gold, and the biggest reason for this is that the fans are hordes of girls (and most likely many boys) that are in love with Olly Sykes.

how can you say his vocals improved since CYB? his "hardcore shout" is awful. At least his highs were okay on CYB. The song however is just a Suicide Season b-side with electronic nonsense thrown about.

I liked Count Your Blessings and PARTS of Suicide Season...but that was pretty boring.

If he went for a more hardcore scream like The Ghost Inside/STYG he'd sound pretty good, most of the time he just blows. Pretty decent song too..almost thought there wasnt gonna be any breakdowns but they had to throw some in at the end obviously.

This IS What The Edge Of Your Seat Is Made For is an EP. I'll agree that it's pretty sloppy and amateur.

I'm sorry, but Count Your Blessings is their only release thus far where they stuck to one sound and didn't just seem to be lumping together whatever faux-hardcore kids would buy (probably because at the time of it's release deathcore was getting so big). IDK.

Because Count Your Blessings is clearly a bunch of songs written over the space of however long the band had already been together upon the time of the album's release, with not much point other than to be as heavy and scene friendly as possible.

Seriously. It's definitely not groundbreaking by any means, but I can't say this is frustratingly bad by any stretch of the imagination either.

The teaser did sound promising to my ear but when I finally heard it my reaction was a little disappointing. It might grow on me later. I loved Suicide Season and I never heard the band before that (I thought the album cover was badass so I picked it up). I read a review for what I'm just gonna call 'Heaven and Hell' and it sounded like its gonna top SS. I'm still anxious to hear more.

I really give them credit for how much they've matured. Though, I admit I liked what they had done in the past, I really have high hopes for this. I think they're really coming around to finding their sound.

As for the vocals, every since him and Sam Carter (Architects) started hanging out, he's started using a vocal style more like Sam's.
