Marvin Isley dies

2010-06-07 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 32 Comments
Marvin Isley, bass guitarist and youngest of the Isley Brothers, has died aged 56.

Isley died on Sunday morning in a hospice facility at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago. The cause of death has not been released, however Isley had suffered from ill-health for a number of years and had quit performing in 1996 as a result of complications from diabetes.

By the time he had stopped performing, Isley had suffered a stroke, had a kidney transplant and had both of his legs amputated.

The Isley Brothers are best remembered for their 1973 album 3+3 and hits like 'That Lady,' 'Fight The Power' and 'What It Comes Down To.'

Why is everybody dying?

Because it's a natural part of life.

There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves?

is there nobody on this site who knew who he was and knew his music?

I hope there is, else it would be pathetic that a music community couldn't recognize him.

Isley brothers were mostly a one hit band with "Shout" but they put out consistent soul music throughout the late 60's and early 70's. Solid group.
